Dave and no one else, please dont quote me :) but going on what I remember they said. The rumor was around the time when Dave reported about Amare(basically around Trade Deadline time) and it was Brooks, Landry and McGrady(maybe some fillers?) for Bosh(or maybe the fillers were on this side). The Rockets backed out because they thought he wasnt a max player/max contract guy or something like that. Again dont quote me on that but the basics. The podcast when they put it up will explain it better.

At this point, if we can get Bosh, I would be very happy for this. The rockets likely will not get Wade or JJ. Bosh likely does not want to be in that cold city for another 6-7 years, prefers to return to Texas, and the rockets do have a few players for that team to complete a trade. It is a logic trade. Is Bosh too expensive, which is another discussion.

Very happy? I'd be ecstatic. Getting Bosh would absolutely help in luring a Dwyane Wade or Joe Johnson here next year. We would have to make it work under the cap, of course, but it absolutely seems logical to get the guy. He averages 20-10 and with a guy like Joe Johnson or Dwyane Wade along with Trevor Ariza? Sounds great, but it is still a long shot of course.

Just curious - where does Bosh help in the long run? With Yao and a(n expected to be) re-signed Luis Scola Bosh becomes redundant. Trading Scola sounds a poor idea on many levels.

Rockets need include one of PFs for the trade. For example, Scola, Lowry (Brooks, Battier) and Cook for Bosh. Scola can be traded right now since Landry is playing well. I do not think they want TMac, if they do, that would be great.

He helps in several ways. Yao returning and being healthy for the long run is very much up in the air after the surgery. He is a great mid-range/post player. Meaning he gets his points around the key and in. Comparing him to Scola; he's 4 years younger. It is a given that he does play for a typically bad team, but his career average is 19 and 9 as well him averaging 27 and 12 this season so far. Compared to Luis Scola averaging 12/8 career and 15/10 for the season.

Great numbers for Luis definitely and I'm not trying to take away from him as a player, but I just believe Bosh would elevate us to championship level if we lured him here to go along with what we already have. Another side to that being we'd have a great chance to get a Joe Johnson/Dwyane Wade here as well. Remember all the talk about Wade wanting to play with Bosh? Wade would definitely take a long, hard look at Houston if we had Bosh. Joe Johnson just wants to win as well.

    That's my opinion at least.

Your opinion is defensible, tho I believe the reality is that:

    (a) Bosh is an upgrade from Scola, but not enough of one to elevate the Rox to contender status - or much (if at all) ahead of where they are at present.
    (b) Scola's standing with teammates adds to the synergistic value he possesses. (It is yet another example of why Shane has value above and beyond his deficiencies.)
    (3) I love Browry. But the Rox team that started against the Lakes (inc Yao) with CP3 instead of Browry could have/would have won it all.
    (4) Go All-World at the Point. If NO and CP3 will divorce, be there. Take Peja, Mo Pete, and Posey - give'm McG, Brooks, Landry, Cook, and Chase. But, get Chris Paul.
    (5) Joe Johnson would be a better fit here; and he ain't coming. If Atlanta does not implode (on court, in legal court and/or in front office) JJ re-signs for most money, and that will be in Hawksville.

Of course, both of our opinions are. There's really no way of knowing the reality of what he would bring vs. what we'd be giving up. Other than a trade happening and letting the season play out. (I'm going to go 1.2. and go c,d,e since you did the opposite) Lol

    1. Bosh is not a Dwight Howard upgrade, of course, but I see what your saying in a different light. We're not a contender with Scola, either. The Rockets have to upgrade our talent. You go after the best player if possible. I already pointed out the better stats and him being 4 years younger to support that opinion. Let me perfectly clear, though: you don't trade half of the team to get him. If the Raptors want too much talent, you decline and continue the season as we are. If the Raptors want reasonable talent for Bosh, you do that trade. That's all I'm saying.

    2. You're right. Scola is an excellent teammate and is great for team morale. However, we're not trading for Artest again or a guy like Stephen Jackson. A guy with questionable integrity. Bosh has been an excellent teammate in Toronto despite their losing seasons and his obvious disappointment. He doesn't have character questions and he plays hard. It's very possible he'd be loved here as well in a year or two.

    c. I love the Brooks/Lowry combo as well. With Chris Paul, we would have had a great chance to win it all. No argument here.

    d. I've been thinking about this trade for about a month myself. I whole-heartedly would jump at the chance to get Chris Paul, but there's no actual evidence to suggest this is even a thought right now. The Bosh possibility seems to be more real at this point. It's been discussed and rumored around NBA circles. Not to say a Chris Paul trade won't become a real possibility in the future, but there's nothing to suggest he wants out yet and even if he did, who's to say Houston would be one of the choices?

    e. Of course there's a small chance, but he won't be coming here as the team stands, but with Bosh, it would definitely make him stop and take a look at Houston being a place that he'd have a great chance to win a championship.
