BMoney- As a starter scola gave 13-8 while wilcox gave 14-8. Both played 28-29 mins per. Both shot over 51%. Scola has 2 yrs at 3m left, wilcox has 1yr at 6.5 left. Scola just made 28, Wilox will be 26 in september. Aside from just being avid rox fan which is cool, in what way is scola better?

To the pj brown scenerio. I never said pj was going to be the last piece of the rox title hopes. PJ Brown was a better alternative as a backup to Yao and the youth at the 4 as well as the lack of size on the frontline. Even with yao going out for the season and the rox were headed to the playoffs, I felt that pj brown gives the rox more of a chance to advance than hayes. What brown would have brought in the relief of deke was a 6'11 veteran that was tough, a really good defender in the post with a reliable shot from 15ft. Its was no different than the spurs having kurt thomas on the roster.

Like I said, if the kings ask for scola to get artest, are you still going to be up in arms and proclaming him as a deal breaker?I'm not saying miller is as good as artest, but scola talent is replacable. We're not talking about replacing a top tier 4 man. We're talking about a decent 4, that 28 that don't have any special talent. Not to rank players, but in the west, where would u rank scola as a 4?

Yes, but if you trade him we have NO ONE ELSE that is a capable starter, so you have fixed one hole and created another.

If you have a leaky ship, you don't pull your finger out of one leak to stick it in another....you cover BOTH leaks.

Good question. Scola is much better because he's half the money for another two years.

Scola is a decent player, but importantly he has heart and passion. When Yao is back, Scola will make the other teams pay for their double teams on Yao, provided he practices that 10-12 feet jumpshot to perfection. Scola will average 17 points, 7 rebounds a game. Book it.

Also, is it just me or are the Grizzlies' management acting like clueless, idiotic teenage girls here? They gave away Pau Gasol for almost nothing (except Kwame's huge expiring contract), which was a lopsided trade but understandable from the viewpoint that they were rebuilding - but now they won't give away Miller for anything less than a player like Scola. So, WTF? - are they rebuilding or not?

Morey should convince them that they are rebuilding and trade BJax and our other expirings to them for Miller.

Marc Gasol is supposed to be the best C in Europe right now and better than Pau.

I think Miller is basically a more experienced Novak. And I don't see how Miller is that much of an upgrade defensively over Novak. So if Novak can't get minute how can Miller get minutes?

He may be, he may not be. He's just like a lottery pick. Point was they didn't trade Pau away for nothing.

Marc Gasol is slowww. He reminds me of Todd Macculloch. Not that bad, but not better than Gasol.

Ditto. Pau is way better than him despite being soft on defense and rebounding.

Miller is a nice all around player, not just a spot up shooter. When you think of all the little intangible things that people love Battier for on defense, well Miller will produce a lot of those things on offense. He's a smart player, makes good decisions, makes the extra pass, finds the open man. He can knock down open 3's or put the ball on the floor to set up his solid mid range game. I wouldn't give up Scola for him, but he is a player.

While he's not great on D, I think his reputation is worse than it deserves to be. He's actually a decent athlete.

Novak can shoot the lights out from deep, but I've seen little else from him. Until he proves he can put up any kind of resistance on D, other teams will attack him as soon as he hits the court. There's really not much of a comparison between Miller and Novak.

Pau was taken with the 3rd pick. Marc was a 48th pick. Manu was picked up at 57 but this guy doesn't resemble a lottery pick at all.

He still looks slow to me. That will be the biggest problem for him IMO.
