If he wants to come here, you have to grab him. The more talent, the better, and even though steve wasn't the perfect Rocket, I never thought he was a low character guy. No way he hurts team chemistry. If he takes our offer, it's because he wants to be here, and he wants to win. Guys like that are always good for the clubhouse.

I'm not sure how I see Francis and James getting enough minutes at the same position.

I still think, the only way this happens is if Alston, and either Head or Snyder are traded. Obviously JL3 being gone is a given.

One last thing: Steve is a longshot to come here. We simply have too many guards. Now, I wouldn't be surprised if Morey had a deal in place to get rid of some of the weight in our backcourt the minute Francis signs. That's the only way I see us being a "favorite" for The Franchise. Personally, I think Morey is smart, and a smart GM never reveals what he's really thinking. I'm very interested to see how this plays out.

forum niceness, first 2 threads back to back
"Francis to Rockets a longshot"
"Rockets have a shot at Francis"

The Rockets signing Francis might be something like in baseball how a team might trade for a closer at the trading deadline when they might already have one, to help themselves out but also to not let another contender strengthen themselves. Okay maybe thats a far-off comparison..

If the Rockets do sign Francis I'll be excited and "crankin dat Souljah Boy  "..

Right now, I'm really confused if I want him back or not. If he can become a role player and defer to McGrady and Yao, of course I want him back. I just don't want him taking his defender one-on-one all of the time, but I do think he brings some heart to the team, that I think has been missing since Sura got injured.

If he wants to come here for cheap, you really can't say no to talent.

You're crazy if you don't believe that Francis is a better option that Mike James & Rafer Alston.

Well i would love to have him back (look at my name, ive had it since 2002) But you would hope if he does come back that he doesnt have in mind that it would be the same as it was when he was here a long time ago. He would without a doubt have to defer to tmac.

One thing to ponder is why hasn't Francis signed anywhere yet? It's certainly possible that he's waiting for a Rockets trade, though he could also be holding out for the best financial and roster fit.

In the Channel 2 video, if you watch Adelman's face when Steve Francis' name gets brought up (23:39 mark), that looks like a genuine laugh-off of the possibility. But I don't know.

Man this sucks.

I was hoping to see Francis makea return to Houston.

Hopefully its just speculation and the Rockets are actually the frontrunners for him. ;)

Thank you.

I have a question. I understand that there is no province tax in Texus. If Steve go back home, does he need to pay province tax for the buyout income?

Well, if the Rockets failed at shooting Steve Francis, they can always take a few stabs at Paul Pierce.

Francis won't sign until waivers from the buyout pass, which is seven days. I'm not sure if that's business days or just calendar days. If it's calendar days the the soonest a team would sign Francis is Wednesday or Thursday depending on when exactly the buyout was officially completed. If it's business days, it'll be Friday or next Monday. I'm hoping this gets all done by Friday at the latest. The excessive Francis debate in the forums is annoying to say the least..

how can anyone say rafer>francis?? all those floaters and bricks rafer shot killed us last year! in our starting lineup, there will still be only 2 players who can get their own shot, tmac and yao. we need to have 3 players starting that can create for themselves and set up their teammates. if we play rafer with tmac, yao, scola, and battier, teams will just continue to leave rafer wide open and let him either throw up a brick or throw a floater up to the rim, which never goes in!
i say sign francis, trade luther and rafer. besides rafer is making close to 6 mil, luther is making 1.5 maybe 2, thats 7 or 8 mill that can be used elsewhere. adelman will make the game fun again for francis. francis wont have to play like a "robot" like he did under jvg. deron williams didnt even have to play defense vs rafer last yr in the playoffs, we must have a pg who is a threat offensively on the court at all times.

It could even be possibly this:

Houstonfox article proclaiming Rockets as the leader to sign Steve Francis:
Houston Rockets Episode Four:
A New Hope

Francis signs for the Heat / Clippers and is the key reason for Rockets losing games to them:
Houston Rockets Episode Five:
The Franchise Strikes Back

Rockets win NBA Championship. Francis wishes he had signed for the Rockets:
Houston Rockets Episode Six:
Return of the Rockets

:D

Adelman's laugh off made me happy. i firmly believe that SF is the death of player and ball movement and would be very surprised if Adelman would be optimistic about integrating SF into a legit, complex offense.

However, the best GM and coach combos are the ones where the GM brings in the best talent (not just the folks the coach wines for), and the coach then has to do his job to make the pieces fit.

It seems we've made an offer. any reasonable person can see that Sf signed at a low price is yet another low risk, high potential reward move.

Ugh, I think it's happening.

I dont think Francis is even considering us anymore..it seems like we've given him the Vet minimum and he probaly feels thats an insult to he's ability. personally I rather see Arron Brooks get thoe minutes and hopefully develope into our future starting PG.
