No the long shot we're talking about here is the Heat getting to the Finals. It's a team full of guys who are one step away from their walkers, and retirement homes. Shaq, Zo, Payton, Walker, Jones? hahaha they will be lucky to get into the playoffs.

Wou were just looking for an excuse to use that emoticon, weren't you?

Like if we somehow landed Cat? That would be HILARIOUS. Stevie goes to the Clippers, and Cat comes back to Houston. Oh man, I think I would die laughing.

And against an emerging Cleveland team and a healthy Washington, I think their chances may very well be between slim and none.

I know someone will come in and say "it's not your money" and "you'd do the same thing" or something along those lines, but why in the hell would money be a factor in a decision like this when you're already getting paid $34 million to do NOTHING? Why not just go where you think you'd have the most fun, help the team the most, and fit in the best? Should he really be concerned that he can get $3 million a year from someone else and only $2 million from us?

Professional athletes kill me sometimes with their sense of entitlement. Francis is already making the combined salary of 650 hard working Americans and that's before signing ANOTHER contract. Yuck.

The logical part of me says that signing Francis at any cost is redundant. He and Mike James are very similar players, only James can actually shoot.

The nostalgic part of me can't help but love the idea of bringing Francis back though.

It's a two horse race, Clips or Heat.

That quote about the Rockets being in the lead for Francis could a rumour / misdirection on Francis's agent's part to drive up his client's attractiveness higher.

I would rather see Brooks getting some minutes than a Francis return. You can never really return home again. It is never the same. Time to lay the Stevie era to rest and move on.

I'm not saying this is accurate or that the Rockets truly are the leader in the SF hunt - but it seems to me that so far Morey has been quite guarded about any decisions the Rockets make. So just because Morey SAYS its a long shot, doesn't mean he believes that - he may just hold his cards close to the vest. Either that or Fox is just trying to get ratings...

For people who say Francis is going down hill, blah, blah.. ok, fine.

How about Mike James? What did he do last year?

Get Steve, trade Rafar and JL3 to Heat for someone that is decent. It will be a very exciting off season.

I don't know how to gauge Morey as of yet. He really hasn't put on a poker face, I mean, everyone thought Aaron Brooks was a shocker, but look at Morey's comments, whomever we get won't have an impact this season, we are looking to build, so on and so forth. But as a SF3 part II supporter, I don't find myself dismayed. I think he's being straight with us, he's saying SF3 wants a lot of money, SF3 has better choices than us, SF3 wants Houston and vice versa, but it may not be meant to be.

This summer has been so pumped and pressed it's almost like a star wars movie. I can see it now:
    Houston Rockets Episode Five:
    Return of the Franchise.

Reading the Berman report of us being leaders in the clubhouse and Morey downplaying the odds, I think it's happening. SF3 returns. Morey is savy as hell and has everything to gain by downplaying the odds. He manages fan expectations and comes off as a magician if this goes down, pulling yet another rabbit out of his hat.

I don't see Miami as the destination. I've heard that SF has a relationship with Shaq, but that's D Wade's team. Not enough basketballs to go around.

Similar problem in Houston, but this is home, yao is here, and adelman is probably a good coach to play for.

I thought the Clips were the likely destination, but I'm now thinking he's coming back. On balance, I'm against bringing in francis, unless it is with the express understanding that he is not guaranteed playing time. Frankly, if it's a LLE contract, there's little risk. If he grouses about his role, we could cut him.

with each day that passes and Hayes is not signed, I'm wondering if we're holding off to hear from SF3. if he signs, then we'll deal Alston for a PF, leaving Hayes potentially out in the cold, which I'd disagree with. I think Hayes is a solid rotation player.

Regardless of how many guards we now have it would be a low risk high reward scenario for the Rockets. Steve just got a big buy out, so money might not be a big issue with him. We all know he wants to stay in Houston and he never wanted to leave Houston in the first place.

Rockets fans for the most part would welcome Steve back with open arms. I'm already looking forward to the start of the season, but if Steve were to come back it could very well be the cherry on top of a very successful summer for the Rockets.
