I never said he was. You and I will never know what is BPA unless its dead obvious, when it comes to GMs draft boards but here its easy for us to see our picks as BPA or positional need. Exactly what you said with my Texans picks I felt they were BPA plus positional need you or any other joe blow will think differently. The GMs are the only guys with the tools available to determine that, but our picks HERE are based on what we see on mocks and draft scouting sites, not professional databased such as pro team's. Duh.
I read somewhere that a bunch of teams have Hyde in a class by himself on their boards, as the only running back rated with a first round grade. So I don't think it is unreasonable to think the Bears might think he is a good value at this point. Also, he is a plug and play upgrade for how they were using Michael Bush (big power back), whom they jettisoned. Right now on the roster at RB they have Forte, who has a ton of wear on the treads at this point, and UFA "Michael Ford", with exactly zero career carries. Depth at running back is legitimately a need for the Bears. Also, Hyde has the potential to become a workhorse back which would let them jettison Forte in a couple of years as Forte is getting up there in age by running back standards, and will only become more expensive as his skills begin the slow decline. I think it is actually pretty reasonable to envision a scenario where the Bears could make this pick.
I think it's some knowledgeable guys like M.G. (and several others) who are using their own judgment. But I get your point.
I like the Bucannon pick. They, again, can wait later to find a TE. What happened to Sefarin-Jenkins? Last I heard he said he was gonna run the fastest 40s of any past TE prospect at the combine and never heard from him again after. Did he hurt his draft stock that horribly?
The stress fracture was also something that was only discovered by the exam at the combine. So people were expecting an impressive performance in the drills, and the medical people wouldn't let him compete at all which was a big letdown.
He's been playing on that foot all this time with no bother, he may be even better after the procedure. If he drops in the draft (the real one) it could be because of his off the field issue.
Just sent a message to KDJ letting him know he has back to back picks, with the first one about to expire but you or I or Remii or whoever can make the pick now (or wait a few if you want?).
