That's a terrible trade for the Rockets. Ricky Rubio just signed a big contract in the Euroleague, and may or may not have any interest in coming to the NBA for the 5th pick's slated salary either in the next several years or ever.
Rubio's coming over in 2011-2012. Count me in as one of those willing to wait - I hope Morey agrees. If Xavier Henry was available at 14, I could see this trade being an option, though without Memphis sending back the additional late 1st.
Can we shorten up that time period? Given what I've seen pass for serious trade talks, I sincerely doubt any real trades will happen unless they're really lopsided because someone lost interest and didn't care. I see no reason anyone should need 24 hours, but for some reason people seem to be milking the heck out of it.

Hey guys, Right now all I have on my roster is Beasley, Cook, Chalmers, and D-Wade's hold -- we're releasing James Jones. That means I'm weak at the PG/SF/C spots, though there seems to be a lot of free agent C's who would love to play for the Heat. Because of my empty roster/cap space, I'm hesitant to take on any bad contracts. I'd be willing to deal Beasley + 15/17 for a legitimate center (Brook Lopez), but outside that I'm probably holding on to him. As far as Detroit stands, the only guy I'd be interested in is Stuckey. I'm not sure what you'd want for him. As far as Philly stands, I'd be interested in Jrue Holiday or Maurice Speights. Let me know if you'd be willing to flip any of those for draft picks. As far as future picks are concerned.. doesn't that take the fun out of this?!
