For our 5th time jamming together? Great! We rocked the crowd and pulled in a good deal of 6th street stragglers. With the way the sound system/PA was set up in that place our drummer couldn't even hear my vocals which I had no idea until after. So especially considering that, we did great lol Pulled the attention from 3 bookers just walking by who nabbed our info and found ourselves a studio engineer that happened to be in the bar that really dug it and wants to throw us in his studio for free so that'll alleviate our pocket books tremendously. As a perfectionist, I wouldn't entice anyone to tivo that performance if they were capable lol but we should tighten it up for the next show August 2nd @ Speakeasy here in Austin. Thanks for asking!
Not terrible at all. Definitely unpolished, but the sound is good and at least the music is yours. It's a lot harder than most people understand to put this much work into something and put yourself out there for people's subjectivity, I commend you all for doing it and doing it with aplomb. I like the change in voicing, but I agree that you gotta hit those highs stronger, or get some backup help. The bass needs to mix it up a bit, in my opinion. Good line, but too reminiscent of other things and it doesn't change up enough. Still sounds good though, but I like this style of music. The lyrics weren't my favorite but it'll probably score you some skanks, and maybe an STD or two, if you ever take it on the road. I agree that on a production level such as this, you guys could be enjoying yourselves a little more, but I get that it's early in on your process. Overall, job well done.
Damn. Would've liked to make the next one but we'll be out of town. You need to have a show the week of 8/12. I have a kid free week and could easily make it downtown.
great music! Really like the funk -- good to chill with. would be perfect to draw people in on 4th/6th in Austin but man, your band looks so square and white! I guess for Austin that works fine tho.
