I thought it was a silly of Mchale to bench Lin the entire fourth quarter, but whatever.... at the end of the day, if the Rockets fail to develop the investment they made in their starting point guard adequately, then it is their (and their fans') loss.

After all, Lin can always move on to another team at the end of 3 years. And the Rockets can continue to keep Toney Douglas as their primary point guard.

The sarcasm doesn't work if no one is making that claim. No fools are arguing over Harden's turnover rate. Harden is actually doing his job 4 quarters a game.

This stuff is worse than the early Yao years... I wonder if French people and people of French descent were spamming Spurs boards during Parker's development period....

I'll be laughing because as nice as Tony is he is not a PG. Maybe McHale and the coaching staff are thinking otherwise. I've been silent for quite a while but if they don't know how to utilise him then just ship him out of town (Lakers, the Bulls) just a thought.

I think McHale is looking for excuses to make Lin a bench point guard. So, Harden can be the PG and TD the SG. Otherwise, there is no good reason to bench Lin for the entire 4th quarter. Especially, Lin played well in the 3rd quarter.

May be McHale is upset that Lin got more votes than Harden. So, McHale benched Lin to make him look bad.

I don't know what McHale's rationale was for that, but Lin needs minutes when he is playing well. Bench him for a few minutes, than put him back.

I was most puzzled when the 2nd unit was struggling without either Lin or Harden in the floor. I thought it an ideal time for some Linsanity.

Yes, I was surprised that he let Tony & Delphino run the 2nd unit. Delphino had quite a few turnovers as well.

That says a lot about his trusts on Lin.

I wonder if Lin's knee is factoring into these coaching decisions? I will be more puzzled about the rotation once Lin's knee is 100%.

I'm NOT an Asian American but nice of you to assume all of Lin's fans are. As far as the "development period" statement.....let Lin develop instead of benching him for no logical reason. We didn't pay Lin 25 million to be sitting on the bench.

the way I interpret things currently:
    while disregarding the starting line-up,
Harden is a shooting guard playing point guard..
TD is a combo guard playing shooting guard to Harden..
Lin is a back-up point guard to Harden..
Delfino is practicing to be a point guard....

Lin not complaining... maybe it's the cultural thing for traditional Asians... only wimps complain... the real man will tough it out and will pay revenge upon opportunity... unfortunately maybe the coaching staff think that not complaining is a sign of weakness or lack of agression...

Anyway, even after a quarter season, it is still early... many games to go. More blundering to make...

doesn't the coaching staff consider JLin a rookie? and that they don't play rookies?

it seems pretty obvious to me that some days he just doesn't have much power out of it, no lift on his jump shot, no drive.

    (Toyota Center bathroom)...

Morey: "Coach, give TD more PT, we need to up his value b4 Feb to be part of a trade package."

McHale: "No problem, should I notify Lin?"

Morey: "No, it might motivate him to play more aggressive and work on his shot."

McHale: "Ok, now get off my lap, I'm trying to take a s**t, and this is very awkward.

    1. Toney Douglas was pretty clutch today. And has had some clutch shooting this season, too.

    2. McHale explained his decision right after the game-- that he planned on bringing Lin back (and thought about bringing back the 8-for-9 Smith) but left in a 5 man group who had momentum (Harden, Douglad, Delfino, Parsons and Asik) when they widened the lead after it got as close as 5 points.

Both McHale and Sampson have consistently praised Lin's talent but expressed worries about the inexperience of both him and the rest of the young guys. Even if Linis frustrated, I am sure it has been made clear that the coaches and the front office have faith in his ability to continue improving and rounding out his game.

    3. Lin is not the only starter on this team to sit out tonight or recent end of game situations. Patterson sat tonight and other games. Parsons sat out crunch time at least once in favor of Delfino. Asik has also sat when the team went with a more shooting-heavy lineup. Lin just attracts more attention because of his fame from last season.
