    Here's a conspiracy theory: The "deal in place" is with Philly for Hawes and a pick. However, Morey is waiting until after today to pull the trigger, precisely so that he cannot flip Hawes before the trade deadline. That way, Hawes can't try to force his way out of town if he gets upset about being traded to a team where he will be the backup.

    That is interesting, and I hope it's true, but I don't see Philly coughing up a first.

    I believe it works the other way too. It would keep Philly from flipping Asik to a team in the West before the trade deadline.

    DM is gonna make a trade when he is wants ... perhaps he'll trade Asik next week, when no one expects. Like the Harden trade.

    Philly is tanking. Why would they give up a pick?

    I think Hinke is likely to get fired if he gave us a pick.

    Asik picked a bad year to pout. Last year or next year we could have traded him easily. But this year there's a strong draft, and a lot of teams, especially in the East, are trying to tank.
