Question for the cap/contract guys: If a team believes that say Asik is worth more than 8 million per, can we do a sign and trade where we sign Asik to a new contract worth more so we can get a higher paid player in return? I know it would negatively affect our cap number but is it possible, and if so what are the differences between how that would work with and without cap room?
