His wins exceed his failures. Yet ppl here only focus on his failures?

I think that time will prove that out - most of his wins are in the draft, I think he has been very good there.

But having good draft picks requires successfully tanking, while also creating cap space. He took on alot of bad contracts in which in the bigger picture were smart. Stone has been playing chess the whole time

so evidently we're giving Stone props for managing to lose enough games to garner one of the top picks for a few years? really? I mean am i missing something here? how hard is it to lose? lol

I guess losing is such an art only few people can master. You have to admire losing like you admire a beautiful piece of art. :D

i'll admit that perhaps my declarations of being able to outcoach MDA regarding in game situations is a good bit of hubris... but dangit if i dont think i coach or gm us to as many losses as silas n stone have done! lol

If you need to be a contender to finish the rebuild it takes decades to complete a rebuild apart from OKC who got Durant, Harden, Ibaka and WB consecutively in the draft.

It doesn't take a lot of coaching skill to tank.

What is your definition of rebuilt? I don't think we are done yet.

    Stone's been fine.

People are focusing on swings that didn't pan out, which ultimately are inconsequential.

He got the important parts right, which many GMs flub.

His biggest wins have been getting great value from his second picks in the draft (Sengun, Whitmore, Eason)

The TyTy, Garuba, Lopez thing was annoying, but if Lopez really did go back on his word, that is just the price for playing the game.

We are in excellent shape going forward.

We are done, for better or worse. Just need the young guys to grow up.

Well he did achieve the goal of putting the Rockets in the best draft position under the parameters of absolutely bottoming out and then being in a position to start competing in 2.5 seasons. It looks like he drafted pretty well with those 3 drafts.

The KPJ saga is over and was pretty inconsequential to the overall trajectory and has become addition by subtraction with a packed roster. His asset management in regards to Christopher, Garuba, and TyTy is a bit concerning since that will be a major part of this upcoming phase. He's not a good or even average GM at this point, but this season will shed some light.

Isn't that TBD, I still see hope in Jabari, Amen and Cam, and perhaps Jalen though am thinking he is less of an alpha and more of a great 2nd behind a leader.

Probably yeah, but there is nobody like Duncan, Hakeem, MJ, Luka or LBJ that dominated from Day 1, what I meant.

He is the guy we build around vibes and who can pack the arenas with crowds and crowds.

Yao was a cultural superstar off the court and probably a phenomenal 2nd option. An Icon who had whole Asia and other parts behind him.

Of course there will be some later bloomers.
