Didn't look at everyone yet, but spooner and Jamers looks great. This is going to be a fun. Don't forget to post!
I'm a rebuilding team so I'm obviously concerned about the future. I have lots of young talent and high draft picks. I have a budding star in Evans, who I feel, will average 25+ppg in this league soon. I've got good scorers at every position. If only they can play learn to play some defense... Starting Lineup: PG- Tyreke Evans SG- Marcus Thornton SF- John Salmons PF- J.J. Hickson C - DeMarcus Cousins Evans is obviously the star. He is the 2010 ROY and averaged 20-5-5 his first year. He struggled with injuries in '11, but is looking for a bounceback year. I see Marcus Thornton as a young Cuttino Mobley. He averged 21ppg after the All-Star break and is still a relative unknown around the league. Salmons is the seasoned vet. He can the play 1-3 and is a lethal 3-point threat. Hickson is a like younger Carl Landry but a much better rebounder. He averaged 14-9 last season, mostly in a backup role. Cousins has the biggest upside. If he could improve his defense and shed some weight, I think he could be the 2nd-best center in the league behind Dwight Howard. Bench: PG- Jimmer Fredette/ Isaiah Thomas SG- Martell Webster SF- Donte Green/ Tyler Honeycutt PF- Jason Thompson C- Samuel Dalembert/ Hassan Whiteside The biggest question mark is how good will Jimmer be? If he develops his handles and passing, I see him being a Stephen Curry-esque player. If he doesn't, he could be a shorter Adam Morrison. I have a deep bench with Martell Webster, who is a good two-way player and he's still young at 24. I have Donte Greene, who many of us know was traded to get Ron Artest, so we all know he can obviously score. Next, I have Jason Thompson who has great size, can block shots and average a double-double if he gets minutes. At backup center, I have Dalembert. He could be a starter for a lot of teams and was frequently asked about in trade offers. At worst, he is just an expiring contract. At best, he can average a near double-double and provide solid post defense. Additions: Martell Webster Subtractions: Francisco Garcia Expiring contracts: 2011 - Dalembert, Thornton 2012 - Hickson, Thompson, Greene Draft Picks: No picks traded 2011 Salaries: $44,023,895 After Dalembert comes off the books, we should have enough to sign two-near max players while also retaining Thornton. I think we will sneak up on a lot of teams and could make the Playoffs. I wish I could've gotten a good defensive 3 or a true point, but I feel we're still a dangerous team as is.
Will there be separate categories for the rebuilding teams and Championship teams to make things fair?
Yeah its on the first post. I believe rebuilding teams are graded from one to three based on youth complementary offense/defense (something like that)
depends on if you move pierce. and if lwqbulb would entertain a deal around pierce - manu to a lesser extent.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been rebuilding for what seems like forever. Though not quite at the level to compete for a championship, they are beginning the next phase of their journey, challenging for a playoff spot. PG: Ricky Rubio/Luke Ridnour SG: Aaron Afflalo/Francisco Garcia/Wayne Ellington/Malcom Lee SF: Derrick Williams/Da'Sean Bulter PF: Kevin Love/Al Harrington/Jason Smith C: Greg Oden/Darko Millicic/Anthony Tolliver/Brad Miller Additions: Aaron Afflalo, Francisco Garcia, Da'Sean Butler, Al Harrington, Jason Smith, Greg Oden Losses: Sebastian Telfair, Martell Webster, Lazar Hayward, Wesley Johnson, Michael Beasley, Anthony Randolph, Nikola Pekovic First off I tried to purge the team of malcontents and problem children, as I didn't want a "Terrence Williams incident" with the arrival of Rick Adelman. Going strictly off potential, the Timberwolves now have one of the best future front courts in the league. Kevin Love is already on pace to become one of the premier PF in the NBA, a threat on offense inside and out as well as a great passer. Not to mention he is probably one of the best rebounders (if not the best) in the league. Now we add not only this year's 2nd overall pick Derrick Williams, but all so Greg Oden. I took a flyer on Oden purely on potential. It is a low risk-super high reward pick up. If he can stay on the court, he's a top 5 shot blocker and a superb rebounder. Between Love and Oden, the Wolves should dominate the boards. Aaron Afflalo and Francisco Garcia give me two veteran players that can play some perimeter defense. Afflalo has improved his 3 point shooting since he came into the league and after the Carmelo trade he turned himself into an overall offensive player. Garcia is familiar with Adelman's offense and is a decent enough ball handler to ease Ricky Rubio along. On top of that he is a decent shooter with enough length to shoot over smaller guards on offense and bother taller player while on defense. Al Harrington is scoring threat off the bench. Overall, we have youth throughout the roster, but unlike previous years we also have strong veteran presence as well a respected coach. Still a couple years away to be a real contender, but at worst we are now challenging for a playoff spot. (Think Houston Rockets past two seasons with more potential and upside)
Man don't kid yourself. I was giving up a real sg in harden. Tell you what, ill give you kristic AND oneal for martin... Ill post my write up in a little bit
Championship spurs over here. Spurs - Championship PG:Jason Kidd/Jose Barea/Eddie House SG:Manu Ginobili/Gary Neal/James Anderson SF:Shawn Marion/DeShawnStevenson/Kawhi Leonard PF:Tim Duncan/Peja Stojakovic/Juwan Howard C:Marcus Camby /Matt Bonner/Earl Barron Blazers owns Spurs current 2nd round pick Spurs owns Mavs current 2nd round pick I would apply more of a 8 man rotation in the playoffs. And the minutes would look like this, but varies on the matchups and the opponent. PG: Jason Kidd 28min / Jose Barea 20 min SG: Manu Ginobili 35 min / Gary Neal 10 min / Jason Kidd 3 min SF: Shawn Marion 20 min / De Shawn Stevenson 20 min / Gary Neal 8 min PF: Tim Duncan 17 min / Shawn Marion 15 min / Peja Stojakovic 10 min / Juwan Howard 6 min C: Marcus Camby 30 min / Tim Duncan 18 min More championship experience: I traded the younger players like Dejuan blair, splitter and richard jefferson to get more playoff experienced players like Jason Kidd, Shawn Marion, Marcus Camby and Peja Stojakovic. Playoffs experience would really be significant in the high pressured competition, especially in the finals, which would put my team, the Spurs on top. PG: Jason Kidd who has recently won the ring and is a hall of famer would be best suited to run this team, even with his old age he had shown that he could be effective, like when he guarded Dwade, and still can knock down 3 pt shots. Barea has shown he could break down defences in the playoffs and has shown that he could be a championship level starting pg like what he did in the final few games for the mavs. Provides scoring power for the team too. SG: Manu Ginobili the superstar would help the team in scoring and facilitating the offence. His defence is solid too, and with the help of Gary neal has the backup, the firepower would be provided from the 2 spot, which is known for their 3 point shooting and scoring power. SF: Shawn Marion has proven he could guard the league's best scorers, like the scoring champ in Kevin durant. He would be assigned to guard the top dogs like lebron and kobe. And his offence is great as well as he scores of rebounds and fastbreaks. De Shawn Stevenson would help in the cause with his strong defence and 3pt shooting like what he did with the mavs. His swagger and toughness will be valuable in the playoffs atmosphere. PF: Tim Duncan, the leader of the team would bring his calm presence and defence for the team. His playoff experience is priceless and provides a postup presence for the Spurs. He would be the main option in the post and provide tough defence as well. Shawn Marion would also play abit of pf when the spurs go small like what he did with the mavs, which would provide fastbreaks oppunities. Peja Stojakovic would provide 3 pt shooting like what he did for the mavs against the lakers. C: Marcus Camby his a solid veteran who is still one of the best shotblockers in the game. He also has a midrange shot which would be useful in the spurs offence. Tim Duncan would play C too like he did late in his career. All in all you cannot underestimate the heart of a champion! With so many championship players on the spurs who is a well organized team, there is no way you can count them out for the ring. If you ever doubt the spurs, just take a look at all the players experience, and I can tell you for sure they won't let their team lose in the playoffs.
