ClutchFans Game Thread: Warriors @ Rockets 5/4/2025 (Playoffs Round 1, Game 7)

LeBron and Durant and Curry are old.

 

Buttler has family in the Houston area and would have loved to join the Rockets on a good pitch. Unbelievable on so many levels.

 

Ime just doesn’t know offense. You can’t win anything with a defense only approach.

I knew we would lose this series. I think we all did.

I expected Rox to get jobbed, but sounds like they just sucked



I didn't watch the series since I've been off the NBA as an exceptionally poor sports product the past few years; I still want Rox to win, especially over GS, but I sincerely don't believe the NBA would allow it since it has become WWE tier

 

1. Reed Sheppard needs to start getting real minutes next season. There’s no way the No. 3 pick should be riding the bench in Year 2. Let him develop by playing. The kid’s got shades of John Stockton’s IQ and Peja’s shooting touch. Give him the keys and let him run.

2. Cam Whitmore is HIM. A future star just waiting on his moment. Udoka has to help him grow defensively and refine his mindset, but offensively, Cam can already hoop. If he had consistent minutes this year, we’re talking 15+ PPG easy… and maybe a different outcome in this series. It blows my mind how Jalen kept getting chances while Cam barely saw the floor. Cam’s got Jaylen Brown-level potential. Play him.

3. It’s time to move on from Jalen Green. We’ve given him years. It’s not a hate thing… it’s just a bad fit. He doesn’t match the direction this team is going. Another team might bring out the best in him, but it’s not happening here.

4. Fred VanVleet should not be eating $45M next year. Either he takes a reduced role and salary, or we move on. I’d rather start Holiday and let Sheppard take over slowly. Fred has had his moments, but it’s time to transition.

5. Dillon Brooks was amazing defensively, but he might be our best trade piece to land a high level scorer. Time to explore it.


All in all……… this season was a HUGE step forward. 50+ wins. A No. 2 seed. No superstar. First playoff appearance since 2020. The chemistry is building, the foundation is set, and the defense is elite. Now it’s time to tweak the offense, make the right moves, and take the leap.


The future is H-Town. We will reach the finals soon.

 

I think Amen is the 1 and Reed is the 2 on offense.

You need the spacing for lack of Amen's range.

If memory serves, I think they said this morning that the Rockets have a 3% chance to wind up in the top 5 and a 15% chance to wind up in the top 10.

 

I think the reason that didn't happen was because Ime was more worried about their being exposed on defense than their ability to score and force GS out of their zone defense.

 

I'm not sure what you are saying here but Jalen laid an ostrich egg ion game 1. 7 points on 3 for 15 FG attempt. He did hit the boards with 8 rebound tho. Game 2 he had 38 points.

 

I'm proud of this team.
I'm happy this series starts to close the Jalen Green story.
May the Warriors get destroyed in round 2.
May the Rockets make good offseason decisions.

 

Did you watch the attention to Jalen that GS paid the entire series? Don't get me wrong, Jalen was too passive but, other than game 2, the Warriors took the ball out of Jalen's hands and he did what he was supposed to do give it up. However, he failed to recognize that he was some a 1 on 1 situation at times and he gave it up way too early essentially taking himself out of the play.
