ClutchFans Game Thread: Warriors @ Rockets 5/14/2018 (Western Conference Finals, Game 1)

Man, it has been some time since I’ve felt this way about a Rockets playoff game.

Lord help the GARM tonight. I’m predicting a “The Rockets just don’t want it bad enough” post if we are down 0-2 after the first minute of the game.

 

I’m certainly not on the “It’s corrupt!” Bandwagon, but I do feel there’s just too many personal issues with Foster/CP3 , etc.

Uh, did you see the end of the Celtics-Rockets game in Boston back in December?

 

everyone (including vegas) knows this is the worst possible officiating scenario for HOU, and assigning them in Game 1 also allows for the league office to re-assign them for another 1-2 games this series as they deem "necessary". you're right that average joe is not tuning in for a HOU-BOS finals. and on the flipside, a GS-BOS finals allows the league office to build up a dynasty rivalry for the coming years. these are both things i've already posted about here as well.

finally game day. time to shock the world fellas!

 

This is a huge opportunity for Houston to cement themselves in history.

Virtually everyone in the nba hates the warriors. Yes a lot of people don’t like Harden as well and they think his game is cheap.... but I think most peoples hate for the Warriors runs deeper.

Nobody is giving us a chance and we are the underdogs but if we somehow knock out the Warriors, the nation could easily fall in love with these Rockets. We would be the team to FINALLY knock off this cheat mode of a team. Our team doesn’t play dirty, we just play hard and with heart. The nation will see this.

We gotta come out strong and make a statement in game 1. The opportunity is right there for the taking.

 

i truly wonder what goes thru harden's head when he sees tony brothers show up at the arena.

 

Even though I don't trust this ref crew, I'm quietly confident that Harden will have a good game. Will that be enough to get the job done along with the rest of the team? I don't know, however I'm hopeful that we can win Game 1. Go Houston Rockets!

 

If you're a fan of any other team in the NBA(especially in the West), you root for the Rockets in this series. The Warriors failing to reach the Finals would be to the benefit of everyone outside of that franchise.

First, it would give hope to the rest of the league that they can be beat. We experienced that feeling very briefly 2 years ago when the Cavs pulled off the 3-1 comeback only to watch Durant sign there and pretty much render the 2017 season meaningless.

Second, it would cause some issues within the Warriors organization. Thompson can negotiate an extension this summer. Rumor has it he's willing to take a discount to keep their core intact. How generous will he be though if a ring every season no longer seems like a sure thing? Also, Durant has a player option this summer. He's guaranteed to opt out of that and seek a long-term deal. Reportedly he's done taking less money and wants to get paid. That sentiment will only be intensified if Golden State falls short of the title. Couple that with the fact that nearly everyone on that roster outside of their top 6 players(Curry, Thompson, Durant, Green, Iggy, Livingston) is a free agent this offseason, and they'll have some major decisions to make.

Metaphorically, I want the Rockets to punch the Warriors in the mouth.

I want the crowd loud and unrelenting.

I had a dream about game 1, where the lower bowl had 2 people in it while the game was going on. The upper bowl was full and the fans were so raucous that the TC was shaking so bad security was worried it would collapse.
