ClutchFans Game Thread: Warriors @ Rockets 4/20/2025 (Playoffs Round 1, Game 1)

We were getting the offensive rebounds but still couldn't buy a bucket even with two extra chances. Our perimeter players just weren't making anything.

 

Yep, the offensive rebounding looked great. The Rockets lost because they missed FTs and missed open/wide open threes well below their averages for the season.

It sucks to lose a game that Sengun looked great and the Rockets were getting good looks from behind the arc.

We lost this game when the Warriors traded for Jimmy Butler instead of us (not that I would have wanted to give him the extension they gave him). Of course we wouldn't even be playing the Warriors if we did that, but the point is we needed Jimmy (or KD) to be a real threat in the West.

 

I don't know if anyone else saw this, but I think I found the reason for our off night and there's the problem right there in the pic! Amen is blocking Bari. "Amen, you have to block the others guys. You don't block everybody. The others guys. This is Bari, #10, he's a Rocket like you... you know him, he's on your team. Remember.....?"

 

Jalen couldn’t knock down shots but he could knock up a 40-yr old.

What about a base play using Jalen and Amen in a PnR on the wing with Sengun at the FT Line? Fred is out top, Brooks is on the opposite wing from Jalen. Jalen drives hard to the baseline off the pick; Amen fills the pocket space. Sengun stays out at least 15 to 17 feet.

If you prevent the lob, Sengun can catch the ball on the move and be one dribble from an easy shot in the middle of the paint.

The only problem is that Jalen has to read the D quickly and react with solid passes.

 

Curry reminded me of a Hibachi Chef, slicing and dicing and tossing perfect little long-distance flip shots. Nothing anyone can do about it when he gets in that zone. Maybe FVV and Jalen and Tari (what happened to his corner 3?) can make a few 3s and we can get rolling.

 

Forgot how much I hated Warriors fans..

 

I remember that play, Jabari lost the ball, too many hands in there!

 

If the Rockets had traded Jalen for Jimmy Butler, they'd be a 2-seed with a legit chance at the Finals.

 

As mentioned before, the refs played a major role in the lost, but not the only reason.

 

Sengun can be like Jokic but he doesn't get the calls that Joker gets.

 

Not sure if anyone noticed this but I feel like Amen was off (more turnovers than before?) and couldn't really get into the paint as easily as before? Hopefully that will go away. We will definitely need the version we've seen the regular season.

 

Warriors packed the paint but he still seemed hesitant to drive even in the few times he had a clear lane. His body language was off from the get-go. You can see it in his face when he missed those free throws at the beginning.

 

Playoff nerves. I will give him a pass. Jalen gets a minor one too but he should be more experienced and older.

 

...and Amen was being fouled trying to block Bari and there's no whistle.

 

Jokic when he gets the ball is probably the least respected player you'll ever see by the refs, poor example.

 

Only the first game, a bit of playoff jitters from our young guys, especially on the perimeter. We will bounce back! I just want our guys to make donkey face cry....game 2, we gonna own them!!!!!!
