His glumness won't ruin my attitude but sometimes JVG is a bit over the top. I don't think this was our best game either but come on now. What was his beef with Chuck? Please explain. Sure, V-Span was way out of control and reverted to preseason form but we still won by 28, didn't we?

I agree with you JVG sees something in V-Span but that postgame conference was a stretch, even for Grumpy. But 12-5 is what matters the most at this point.

OK, that is just stupid....you are up by 30, and you play a lot looser....wtf is wrong with that?

JVG is a hypocrit, he would not be criticizing Yao so badly if he had 5 turnovers.

Billy had one where he stepped out of bounds but I would wager $100 that he is pissed about the behind the back pass in the middle of the lane.

That was AWESOME !!! Sure it was a turnover, but YOU ARE UP 30 !!

    Lighten up FRANCIS -aka JVG.

This was a great, confidence building game. This is exactly how we should beat teams that don't defend well, and how we should have spanked the Suns. It's all down to confidence and killer instinct now. If we can tame the KI beast, then the only team that should present a problem for us in a series is the Spurs.

JVG: I know you're a big picture guy, but relax. It was scrubs and new guys in the 4th just playing and having fun. Of course there are going to be some dumb turnovers. Chill.

For these bench players, it is very wrong for them to not appreciate the opportunity of these minutes for them earned by starters. If they don't play their asses off in these minutes, there is no reason, no reason at all, for JVG to give them more minutes in the future.

    You have to earn it!

You don't think the starters would have been playing loose if they were in the game and up 30?

    Come on !!!

The team is up 30, it is called garbage time for a reason....

JVG is just a control freak, and ultimately that will be the demise of this team, good coaches loosen up at the right times.........

The startes could loosen up -- they've already earned their spot.

The bench players need to use garbage time as auditions -- show what they could do with real minutes. The guys that do this will get more playing time (e.g. Hayes is now a starter).

JVG is JVG. The same coaching style has brought them to NBA finals with the Knicks.

What’s wrong with holding bench players accountable? If they commit senseless turnovers, they don't deserve lots of praise about their play. I know what you're saying though.....he should loosen up, but saying "good" coaches loosen up at the right times; like JVG isn't a good coach is a lil much. He is a good coach and holding EVERYONE accountable for their own mistakes will only help this team in the long run, not be its demise. One day, a few players at the end of his bench will be rotation players on a regular basics and they need to know how to play discipline basketball......I don't see anything wrong with that. Hell. It works for the Spurs :p

...agreed, JVG shows some commitment to developing VSPan's game, he thinks he has to be tough on him to instill some discipline in his game. May be it's not the best way but it's JVG's way... if it works I'll take it....

I agree with Cesar above. The starters played hard and created an opportunity for the bench players. If the starters were still out there they would have a right to loosen up a little. The bench players need to show they can do what the starters did and extend the lead by playing like the coach expects. I don't know if you have ever coached but when I have coached I played and respected the players that were running with MY gameplan. People around here b**** about JVG not playing his bench guys enough and then b**** when he plays them and lets them know what they need to do to get more PT. In the case of VSPAN all he needs to do to get playing time is to make sure his passes hit people in the eyes and play hard nosed defense. When he proves he can do that then JVG will allow a little lattitude but he hasn't proved it to me yet and I imagine JVG is a little harder to convince.

It's not a bad thing to expect JVG to get all over the bench players - especially the rookies. That's how they'll learn and eventually start getting quality minutes. And this is JVG - love him or hate him (and I seem to be one of the few that's in the middle) this is our coach, this is his style, and I think eventually we will get a championship behind his leadership.

I am not a fan of playing garbage B-ball in garbage time. I'm a fan of putting your foot on the throat of the other team and keep playing your game. Not finishing off teams you should and instead letting them get back in the game is a problem we're trying to get over. Until that final buzzer sounds I don't think we should start too much celebrating. At least not until we've really beat some quality teams on a regular basis.

So let it be written, so let it be done...

I think it's good that he's tough on the guys that played sloppy in the 4th quarter... yes, the game was well in hand, but they need to know that there will be times when their minutes come in closer games. They can still have fun out there and be focused on what they're doing. If their only game-time experience when the playoffs roll around is 10 minutes a night of sloppy, crap in a few blowouts, they aren't going to have the confidence they need to perform.

what I didn't like was seeing Novak kind of stay away from defending or rebounding the ball in those few minutes be played.. he should be hustling and running and jumping around the floor like ryan bowen.. he's playing like he's saving his energy and fouls..

On one sequence after a missed free throw, he went flying at the rebound like a little girl who had never grabbed a rebound in her life. The ball basically slipped through his hands and 2 seconds later, he gave up a layup. I'm like -- Scott, take this guy under your wing and teach him how to GRAB A REBOUND LIKE A MAN! He was looking like Lampe Part II even in garbage time. I love Novak but man, he's got a ways to go.

I could really feel JVG's pain there.

He was waiting at the 3 point line for a pass some of the time. Lucas passed him up a couple of times and took his own shots, making them. No way he was going to miss his own chance to show something, although he might get some feedback from JVG for that. I agree that Novak still looks lost out there.
