    Rough translation:

Deke: anyone else thinks he's in a slump? my iron elbow is at your service!

Others: no ... no! we are feeling alright!

TMac: Gee, that elbow to the head was rather effective, now I'm filled with both joy and pain...

The way I see an hope things are for vspan is that maybe jvg expects more from vspan because he really likes him. He has to like the defense and the love for the game

I agree, if he didn't care or didn't consider him a big part of the future puzzle, he probably wouldn't get as upset. He's no dummy- he can see that Alston may not be the answer as starting point guard. So he wants an aggressive, relentless Bill WITH A REASONABLE ATTEMPT AT CONTROL.

Also some mistakes aren't his fault i.e. On the fast break he passes it behind his back an chuck wasn't paying attention. Also I'm sure his t.o. To steal ratio is pretty good.

Just found this on chron, funny Fran Blinebury blog:

Fran Blinebury lockroom dialogue w/ Yao & TMAC

    Courtside
Live Rockets commentary & more on NBA with Fran Blinebury

« Sometimes you need a laugh -- Rockets 118, Warriors 90 Yukking it up -- Rockets stomp Warriors 118-90

Yes, they committed 18 of their 21 turnovers in the second half and could have been far less sloppy in the fourth quarter. A good team might have given them trouble.

Then again, if it was a good team the Rockets were playing, Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming would have been in the game for the 4th quarter.

    T-Mac 31 points, 7 assists, 3 steals.
    Yao 27 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists.

Then they had a little fun with each other after the game. Come with me into the locker room for the conversations I had with both of players.

"I'm just doing my job, man," Yao said. "They put a single coverage on me, so every time I catch the ball, I'm just gonna go.

"Yes, I was (surprised). I thought after the first two baskets I made, they might come to double-team or something. But I kept looking around and still there was only one man.

It was working. I think they were hoping we'd get bored throwing the ball into the paint and start to play some perimeter, playing their game. We know their game. They were weak on the inside."

So I asked him what he thought of T-Mac tonight.

"He looked dominant," said Yao. "He played with full confidence and strength. He played like you saw Tracy the last two years, playing against the Mavericks in the playoffs, against the Spurs in that last 35 seconds. He just played like that tonight."

Then the big man started laughing.

"I think Dikembe helped him with the elbow," Yao said. "It knocked him awake."

    So I went to McGrady.

"He said that?" T-Mac replied with a grin and a glance across the room. "He's a jokester, our undercover jokester. I knew he was gonna say something slick."

Sometimes it helps to have an easy win and a few laughs before you head out for 8 of your next 9 on the road, starting Wednesday night in Minnesota.

i love van gundy's no nonsense approach. yeah he's glum sounding but it seems too many people let that ruin their own attitude. why?

as someone else said, he's simply not gonna be happy until we win a championship and that's EXACTLY what i want from our coach. i don't need him to be rah rah in order for me to be happy. i just need him to continue coaching us to victories.

i expect him to continue to be all over spanoulis. i think it's clear that he sees something special in him and he's going to get on his ass to be the best he can be. worrell compared it to what poppovich did to tony parker and that's spot on.

anyways, you gotta love what mcgrady showed tonight. it's looking more like it was a confidence issue earlier then a physical issue.

Are you kidding me? I find supreme blowouts very satisfying - my heart can't take last-second decisions :)

Van Gundy's conference sounds like he is trying to

    1. show that he cares about every player, 1 through 12. He was still coaching when it was "garbage time" and wants these guys to get ready to play.

He values JL, Spanoulis, Novak, etc, as players rather than some entertainment in mop-up time. These guys get coached, too.

    2. prevent complacency going into tomorrow night's back to back. Rockets have not been great at the 2nd game of back to back so far, and mentally, this team has a tendency of letting success get into their heads. Seems he's trying to warn against that.

like it , like it, like it.

Take a deep breath guys. The road trip commences now.

the true test is upon us.

If we can go 7-3 over the next 10 i'll be ecstatic. 6-4 i'll settle for. Anything else a disapointment, especially considering the current momentum we have.

I predict we go 7-3 and are sitting sweetly at 19-8, that will give us a nice launching pad.
