Then why is he in today's NBA? (where you need to be more than simply a stand-still shooter).

Matt Bullard and Eric Piatkowski would never survive in today's NBA either... the game is simply too fast, and too athletic... and with the new rule changes, you're giving away too much if you expect a slow "shooter" to guard players on the wing.

Doesn't matter. Like I said, if he gets beaten off the dribble, Yao's behind him.

For example, on one play, Pietrus got the ball at the top of the key and Novak was 6 feet from him. He started going towards Pietrus, who didn't even have to pump, Novak started backing away and Pietrus drilled a 3 with Novak at about the FT line.

If you're gonna challenge, go challenge the shot and take away a 3. Even if you get beaten off the dribble, Yao's behind him and you don't give up a wide open 3. Novak took himself out of the play. Plain and simple.

For the record, I do think Novak has a place in this league... but on awful/rebuilding teams... not teams using the slogan "its time" as the mantra for THIS season.

If Novak can hit 3's then I can handle some of his deficiencies (same with Head).

I think that everyone except Yao need to get more foul for tough defense

    5:28 HOU - S. Novak made a 25-foot three-pointer from the right wing. Assist: B. Wells

    2 out of 2 from Steve Novak !!! :D

Let's cut this lead to only 2 or 3 by half.
