Yao deserves a round of applause & couple of slaps.

    Applause:
He's got another double-double, 23 points & 11 boards to lead the Rockets to victory over the Warriors.

He turned into an offensive machine in the 4th quarter, scored 15 quarter points, including couple last minute crucial baskets & freethrows to put the Rockets in front.

    Slaps:
The 1st 3 quarters he was bothered by the 6'11" Dampier.

While he deserved credit for making couple crucial freethrows, he also missed couple ones which could have secured the Rockets lead further.

    Cuttino Mobley:
Cat really gave the Rox fans heart-attack, by fouling Dampier with 18 seconds left in the game during which the Roxs were up by 1 point. Dampier missed both freebies, so a relief for the Rox. But Cat did hit a trey to help the Rox at crucial moment.

    Kelvin Cato:
A terrible defender against perimeter players. Clifford Robinson was his defensive assignment. He ended up with 23 points, a season high for the 36-year old man. Very similar situation to Chris Bosh's 25 points. Cato however did get the final rebounds, very important ones.

Bad team find way to lose.

Tonight Mobley almost did it all by himself. :D :p

It's great to see the ROX pull this one out. IMO, this tough win could be the perfect catalyst to begin the long West Coast swing. Guys are gonna have to rely and trust their teammates more and I believe we will see our team greatly mature on the road. At least I hope. I'll be watchin'!

I think Dampier had a couple of fouls on Yao with on call.

And your point is :)? SF was stupid in the overtime loss against Toronto. I have no problem with calling a spade a spade. I'm not comparing Yao vs. SF so I fail to see the relevancy of your statement in relation to this specific game.

First my post was made during final minute of the game. Yao was the force that got us over the hump and I was ecstatic to see him triggering our 4th quarter run.

I however thought that when it came down to a possession that would have closed out the game Yao blew it. He was 1-on-1 with Dampiere and there was NO REASON for him to lose his confidence like he did and pass out to Mobley which resulted in a wild leaning gamble of a shot resulting in putting Dampiere on the line instead. Yao should have taken Dampiere 1-on-1. It was his time to be clutch and he patently chose not to take the mantle.

Maybe I'm being overhard on him but I expect big things out of him.

Let me reiterate that Yao was huge in the 4th period. I loved the fast break and feed he got from Francis during that final run. I just expected him to have no fear when GS obviously dared him to beat them 1-on-1 with the game on the line.

    Damiper is NOT a loser!

At least he didn't say things like "Oh well, Chris Bosh's shot was just lucky"

I see it differently. Yao made the smart play. He pass the ball to Cat and immediately reposition deeper in the paint. A smart guard would throw the ball right back. Cat made a poor decision to drive the lane to try and missed a tough runner and worst yet, fouled Dampier on the rebound.

Wow. A game where no one can b**** about Yao or Steve getting too many shots or not enough shots, compared to each other. Both 9-18, both with 23 points. I could live with that the rest of the year.

I must propose a theory on the play of Kelvin Cato, which has been nothing short of brilliant at times, and then you're thinking what the **** was that?!! the next minute.
    Cato must have two sides.
    1) Kelvin Cato, the ferocious rebounder and shot-blocker extraordinaire. He throws down the dunks, gets the offensive boards, and makes people eat Spalding.
    2) Vinkle Taco, an anagrammed version of his name. This version gives up 20+ points to your Robinsons and Bosh's, commits dumb fouls at the end of tight games, misses dunks, and takes 20 foot jumpers that take out a cameraman.

Cato giveth, and Taco taketh away.

LOL - there was NO REASON for a repost and hardly time for that! And there was no one on the wing of the strongside of the floor. The play was obviously designed for Yao to get the win by the Rox and GS was daring him to do so. His pass to Mobley was with Mobley near the top of the key and with the shot clock already running down.

GS dared Yao to beat them one-on-one with the game on the line. I think he should have taken them to task but he chose not to.

That was why they paid why sing-handing Yao in the fourth quarter. It would be nice if other teams copy that strategy. We shall win even more games. It is always better to have Yao shooing around 50% FG than to have our guards shooting an average of below .400.

Yes, he did. He was fouling Yao all night; but got away from that. Eventually, he fouled out in the final minutes.

Well, Yao has not yet got the respect like Shaq does in the league. At least, not yet.

    :) :) :)

Yao's post after today's win over golden state:

How should one feel after such a win? exciting?hilarious?or just calm-hearted? Anyway I had another mood today: heavy-hearted. I am not joking here, it's my psychological problem that I didn't make the last two FTs. If we had lost today, it would be all my responsibility. Last season we didn't get into the playoffs(one game behind the suns)due to too many losses in such a contest like today's game, and it's really a great pity, though.Today the warriors were not in their own paces, because they played against the spurs last night and they were very exhausted. We had rested for one day but we looked so sleepy instead of otherwise. The Chinese old saying:eek:ne deserves all bad you've done to yourself. I have to think it over tonight.

OMG, how blind can one be. FYI, there was 11 sec left when Yao passed the ball out.

Dampier fouled out at 14s left!Yao got 23 11reb already!
Dampier had two fouls on yao but the ref just ignored it.
one is a loose ball foul, one is a shooting foul.
Anyway Dampier is a better c than cato( Dampier outplayed SHAQ and Big Ben ?)Surprise!
how about trade cato+Griff for Dampier:D

Oh no. It is not fair Yao got to the line nine times and Francis only 2. So, Yao must have the ball more, even when he shot badly earlier. Wait a minute, his FTs came mostly in the fourth quarter.

Oh no. Yao's rebounds, steals and assists combined was higher than Francis' in five minutes less. It is not fair, Yao must have more touches. I should start a thread to bash Yao's selfishness.

There was a play in the Finals against Utah that was drawn up for Jordan to take the game winning shot, but Jordan passed off to Steve Kerr who hit the winning shot. Great players see the court, you don't have to take a shot yourself if you see a teammate who is capable of taking a better shot, and who you know will knock it down.

ttstk123- speaking of blindness how do expect a repost pass from someone at the top of the key? There was no one on the strongside wing because they had cleared it out for Yao. That's where you would expect it to happen. 2ndly Yao didn't try to fight for anymore position once he passed it out. And 3rdly 11 seconds is at best marginal and in my opinion hardly enough time for a repost in the condition that was setup.

Yao should have drove to his right like he did earlier to the basket to either score or draw the foul.

Of course, it would be a moot point if Cat could throw the ball in the ocean tonight. Seems like the easier the shot attempt, the more likely he will miss.
