him being a shotblocker just isn't going to happen. It's like expecting Greg Monroe to block many shots. No, you just find a shotblocker to play next to him.

I didn't get to see that game except the last 6 minutes or so. But if by slow reaction you guys mean slow to block shots in the post, then that's not going to change. He might get you a steal once in a while, though.

I liked what I saw with Rockets team last night. I think they are going to surprise a lot of people. i think Jlin played well considering he is trying to get his "sea legs" back. He was a play maker last night as a PG should do.. He played solid ball. As for west brook, he just showed off, which is going to be his downfall come this season. He needs to learn how to pass. I have watched westbrook play, and he is not an elite guard. He makes a lot of mistakes. He is very sketchy with his plays. I think they keyed in on lin last night. lin was battling westbrook/harden,so I think lin fared very well. people need to give him props instead always looking for the worst. lin and the rockets looked good last night. They have a solid starter team ,and a good second team off the bench. I think Mchale was surprised himself. Rockets fans lets support our team ok.

Lin tried some bad passes in situations where he should have been aggressive and just shot. Also, his handle just isn't all there. Any time he runs through traffic he looks like he's about to lose the ball. He made some solid passes though. Just warming up I guess. I was a bit disappointed in him though - him and DMo who honestly looked completely lost. I know I know - give him a break since he's coming off an infection. Hope both of them show up in better form on Friday.

Lin does have high b ball IQ. Obviously you are trying to bait or have never seen Lin play. Makes me wander if you are a Rockets fan....hmmm

I think this is going to be interesting to see when he goes in to penetrate somebody has to be there. There were a couple times he went into penetrate and there was no body there to find. Basketball is a team effort right guys need to play off of each other. The same thing goes with his defense which as a lot of people are going to quickly realize is actually solid. But if elite PG's beat him off the drible Lin will have to funnel the opposing pg into help defense & help defense has to be there. Also his outside shot didn't seem to be falling although he did get a few looks that is one of the kinks that fixes itself out through the pre-season. And I disagree about his handle from what I saw looked good but can't remember.

I think people need to relax when Lin has a TO because those are going to happen all season I fully expect that. Like Nash had the most inexplicable turnover in todays game against Portland Laker fans weren't ****ting there pants about it & Nash leads the league in TO's consistently every year. Like I remember one Suns game when Nash was playing CP3 & he had like two consecutive TO's bouncing the ball of his foot & in the next possession passing to nobody. What I don't like is when Lin has a TO from a sloppy pass like he did once in the second half but those will happen like they do with every pg. I'd rather he have a TO from his aggressive style than from him just being lazy with stuff though.

It seems like the LOF die hard defend him & some of the older fans are trolling just to get the LOF rilled up & there falling for it. All of that just decreases the overall quality of the board & I just honestly want somewhere to talk basketball that isn't limited by 140 characters. Lin's a work in progress just like all of our rookies and if people are expecting him to be a seasoned veteran there bugging. From him I saw a lot of what I saw in NY good & bad.

D-mo was all over the place last night but he is a rookie so I fully expect that. I think there will be an adjustment period for him. And also, Parsons had a solid outing in my opinion nobody talked about him much same with Kevin Martin. Jones definitely stole the show. Once again important to stress that this is pre-season not sure how much of everyone's play will translate into regular season games. Anyway these are just my thoughts I invite anyone to respectfully disagree can't wait until the next game.

Once again, I agree with just about everything you said (except for Lin's handle). I'm sure he'll get better and more in form as the weeks go by. Nothing worrisome. A lot of the handle problems were because of the pesky reach-in defense by WB (I noticed 3-4 instances). And at least one of the bad passes was due to DMo being out of position. W/r/t Lin's outside shot, he didn't shoot that much anyway - he was 1 of 3? As McHale said in the post-game interview, Lin was trying to be unselfish a bit too much in situations where good passes weren't available - thus leading to bad passes when he should have gone straight for the rim or hit a pull-up. Solid outing but decision-making was a bit rough.

Sigmund and Glenrice may be banned but they recruited more soldiers to their legion... Not sure of the exact names but you will know it's them once they post...

So true. For a first game since March and playing against Westbrook and Harden, that's a really good showing. 6 assists in limited time I'll take that all day long. It's just the first pre-season game but as good a test as they come given it was OKC and Westbrook came out guns blazing.

Lin will be OK. I remember Derick Rose on April 12 against Miami only got 2 points the whole game and 8 assits in 25 minutes. He was at the time just coming back from a strained foot injury. Everyone said that he was rusty but totally believed in him. When you have not been in games for a period it takes some time to get back to it. What is important is the right attitude and mental stage. Lin's physical skills should gradually come back as the preseason progresses.

Yeah the bolded part is exactly how I feel. I'm just looking for a place to talk basketball, instead of ppl baiting others into the same bull**** 'debates' that I have no interest in rehashing and rehearsing.

Unfortunately, that's just what his handle looks like. It always looks like he's about to lose the ball in traffic. I doubt that that's going to get better, so it's going to be a constant source of discontent from basketball aesthetes. It looked like that last year too while he was notching a top 40 PER. If Houston wins, hopefully people will overlook it. If they don't...
