I have said and will say it again: the Rockets are NOT going to win it all until the following happens:

    1) Our top two stars mature not just skill-wise, but most importantly mentally maturing. I think we tend to forget our two guys are still young kids (25 and 24 yrs of age).

    2) No team has EVER won without the right complimentary players/role players that solidify the team and help the star players. B-ball is a TEAM game, and you can't just put players together that don't match each other or compliment each other and still expect to win (see Lakers of last season). The better "TEAM" always wins.

IMHO, the Rockets fall short in those two aspects.

IMHO, Yao and T-Mac are still not mentally mature enough to win it all, not even close. But they have time still to develop that.

What would you do if you were our guards. You know you are not shooting well, costing games. From time to time, you find yourself wide open, you pass up and get close, you keep shooting, you just dont know what to do. It sucks if you are supposed to be the shooter on the team, but shots aint falling for you. Now Mike James is another case, dude needs to get rid of the ball quickly. We dont need him to create. He puts too much on his shoulder.

Hey I never said I wasn't a hypocrite. I have no problem being a hypocrite at times and I'm sure everyone else at one point or another asserts their hypocrisy.

Of course I'm human and I have off days but I'm just venting here as are everyone else in this thread. We're just all disappointed in this team and we all write messages in this thread as a way of venting that frustration.

    Am I right?

The point is this team hasn't been to the playoffs yet...and until then it really doesn't have an idenity. It hasn't face intense pressure or heartbreak. It still doesn't know what real agony is.

Hakeem knew agony, so did clyde. And they lost a heartbreaking series in 93 before advancing the next year.

Same with Chicago. Jordon first had to over come Cleveland, then hit the wall that was Detroit.

The Lakers went through years of playoff frustrations and failure.

San Antonio had it's share of ups and downs before becoming the team it is today.

Detroit is probably the sole exception.

There's a reason why I think Miami, Detroit, and San Antonio are the toughest teams right now (and I don't have Phoenix on that list). And I would say Dallas would take out Phoenix.

Houston - it's not likely to win a championship because the experience isn't there. The team chemistry isn't there. But you never know, it just takes one 7 game series to do it.

Do you just ever expect every shot the ROCKETS put up to go in during a game? Do you ever just naturally have unrealistic expectations like that?

As a die hard fan it's hard not to.

Yeah but I'll come back to reality with you right now.....they probably won't win it all. The age and health of this team are very real and possibly dire to the team's chances in the playoffs.

I just wanted instant gratification for the ROCKETS to not go through that frustration and go all the way.

No I don't....because you just know that it doesn't work that way....I mean, I don't understand...no one in this world does it with that kind of consistency. Even Jordon had his off nights. So did Hakeem and Malone.

WHy can't teams just learn from mistakes of other teams in the past and not make those mistakes? Hence shortening the time it takes for them to get to the finals?

Off course we all do. Chances it won't happen. It's not suppose to happen.

But hey, that's what makes it so much sweeter if SOMEHOW it does happen. That's why they play the game as they say.

it's fine for a player to have off nights, but that's when other pieces of the team need to step up.

Even the best team ever lost 10 games. That's 10 off nights. That's 1-in-8 games.

I must say overall i'm pleased with this team's toughness on the road this season, but man, why are they so bad at home?

If you ask me, I think some of it has to do with the fans being a bit lackluster in enthusiasm. This is a great up and coming team...people should be making some noise.

They aren't going to turn into the 94 Rockets over night. But this team will win more games then last year, and that's something to cheer not bemoan.

Because they play better with a chip on their shoulder, or their backs are to the wall.

You get that automatically when you play every road game.. you don't neccesarily get that for every home game that you're supposed to win.

I agree with you, but what will happen if I ask someone else? :D

Anyway, use THAN instead of "then" when comparing, and use "then" when it's something that follows cause and effect, as in "when somene posts bad grammar, SwoLy-D comes out and then the person gets upset. SwoLy-D knows more spelling and grammar than most people."

Honestly? Can't say I am frustrated by losing this game, although I was frustrated losing to NO last game. I guess I just don't buy into the hype, I realize what our team can do and what they can't, and I also tend to take into account everything else going on. I am just not emotionally-driven when I make up my mind about something. This is NOT to say that I am not a HUGE Rockets fan, because I am, but I do tend to keep my expectations at a reasonable level so I don't get too down or too happy about one game here or there.

But let me answer your question about the front office...

I personally think they have done a remarkable job for this season so far. So that is that.

Now, their REAL job will begin in the offseason, THAT is when I will judge them as to whether they have done what needed to be done for this team or not. They really have a tough road ahead as far as getting younger players, resigning players, and identifying/filling-in some of the glaring holes in our team.

I honestly think that even if nothing is done and we have the same exact team next season, the Rockets will be a better overall team than this season not just record wise, but chemistry-wise, comfort/familiarity with the system, etc. However, the key will be for our players to come back and play the whole season injury-free, otherwise that is a big variable that can change everything overnight. However, the fatigue factor will always be there as long as you have such an old team that is trying to give the same energy/effort night-in and night-out throughout a grueling 82-game season. The KEY, IMO, is to build an excellent record early on in the season and make sure that you are in a good position to be able to rest some of your key players towards the end of the season, and have them fresh for the playoffs.

They should know they may take as many shots as they wish only if they are hot, not in ice age.
