Nice attempt to skew the stats to draw wrong conclusions. If you try to make Amare's stats look better by adding in Hunter's line, you will have to add Mutombo's to Yaos. How convinient of you to leave it out. Also, it was nice of you to throw in Yao's turnover numbers to make him look bad but hiding away his steals. Not to mention Yao's efficiency (FG%) Nice try but Yao clearly outplayed Amare, yet again. Phoenix fans have to accpet the fact that Amare has problems against Yao every time they go against each other. Amare finally has, that's why he wasnt taking the ball to Yao this game, after getting rejected bazillion times last time in Phoenix.
When we're shooting well and with our strong D, we're way better than the Suns. When the suns shoot better than us, and we're just getting outgun, like tonight, they're a little bit better. In the end, Defense wins championship, so Rockets are better.
Let me ask you a question. Since you think REGULAR SEASON records tell all, does that mean the SUNS are favored to win the championships just because they have the best record?
Yao always outplayed Amare, since back then when they were both rookies. There's no argument there. Amare is a great talent, but Yao is whole lot better IMO.
Thank You. All i wanted was for everyone to acknowledge that in the long run the rockets are the better team.
The bad thing about tonight's game is that the Suns really didn't play that well themselves. They shot 7-18 from FT line. Yet they still managed to lose by 10+ points. I'd really be upset now if I were JVG.
It is not even really about that, because playoffs are almost ALWAYS about matchups, and teams that have the mismatches to their advantage usually tend to win. Look, if Duncan is seriously hurt, playing the Spurs in the first round is not such a bad thing. Spurs without Duncan are pretty much close to the Sonics' level, except that the Spurs play some defense. Anyways, regardless of how you look at it, the Rockets will be an underdog no matter who they play. We are just too dang old man (quickly fatigue/get tired, slow team), and the irony is our young stars are the ones who are most seriously injured. Won't be easy in the playoffs for us, even if we make it. Let's just hope that the Grizzilies and the Nuggets and the Kings keep losing. But Denver is the hottest team in the league since George Karl came in, they are making a serious charge up the charts, and unless we win many of the games left for us to play, we are going to fall to 7th (which I predicted all season-long to begin with). Injuries are going to be our undoing, that is why I think there should be a primary focus on that. But it might be too late to get our team healthy before the playoffs. The playoffs is usually all about which teams get healthy at the right time: the Mavs are doing that; the Sonics seem to be having similar problems to us; the Spurs' entire season hangs in the balance on Duncan's ankle. It wouldn't be a far stretch to say the Suns and Mavs might make it to the West Conf Finals if Duncan is out (even if he is back playing but is not healthy out there).
I am just very frustrated as anyone right now. When we were on that hot winning streak and shooting lights out, I just could not believe that we couldshoot this well. I remember how I kept thinking that we cannot continue shooting this well, and in that little stretch of 8 games, they proved me wrong on each one of those games. Now, I am once again not sure if the offense that we are running is well suited for this team. Mainly, I hate it that we have to rely on our 3 point shots to determine whether we win or not. We cannot change how we play this late in the season, but I think that the number of outsides shots that we take is going to hurt us in the playoffs.
The Difference tonight was Shawn Marion. Clearly he brings monster rebounding and defense and the Suns, with their full team, chasing for home-court, and seeking vengence, played like the top seed in the west.
Even if we make it???? Minnesota won't catch Houston - it has to win all it's remaining games to have any chance to do that.
Guys that sucked. It was a good game to begin with. Let me say..refs were horrible on some plays tonight..well they need to look at it..they couldn't have been worse. Jon Barry definitely needed him tonight. Our offense looks bad. We really need some movement of players and motion..not just one guy trying to get open...we need to implement more offense or somethign. HOWARD definitely needed. Ryan Bowen great job to him too bad we couldn't win it. Jimmy lit us up but w/e We need to be making some adjustments..I thought we could have won this one.
This is kinda random, but man Kobe got hurt again... and it's his leg again. He's having a rough year.
I agree. I watched the Warriors, Sonics game..Sonics don't have Rashard Lewis I didn't notice that..but everyone agrees that defense wins championships.
1) you don't know what I think 2) nobody knows who will do better in the playoff 3) whoever is favored to win, may not win 4) even the favored win, there is a factor of randomness 5) the bottomline is that you got to use some criteria - records by far are the best to use
I SERIOUSLY doubt JVG can lace up and start making some shots for us Shooting is two things: confidence, getting your 'spots'. Anyways, I seriously doubt JVG is not making them practice their shots. But game play and practice are totally different things. I think more than anything else, it is our confidence and the fatigue factor that is affecting our shot-making ability.
No, they aren't...but at the moment they're certainly more favored than we are to win the championship. You can't honestly tell me that the Rockets are more likely than the Suns to win it all this season. I agree that teams like the Suns aren't built for the playoffs in the classical mold. However, that doesn't mean they aren't a good team. I think they have the potential to go pretty far. Take a look at some of the teams that have advanced far in the playoffs in recent years: Dallas, Sacramento, New Jersey (but they're in the east). Granted, teams like the Pistons and Spurs are more favored to win it all, and the Rockets are indeed a team built more like the Spurs. However, even though we have the right pieces, we don't have the mental fortitude and the "killer instinct" that true championship contenders have. Our two stars are still very young with minimal playoff experience. Most of our veterans, while level-headed, came from perennially losing teams. I think it'll be another season before the Rockets develop that sort mental toughness.
I am sorry, but after running the MDE out of town, I wish nothing but the worst for that ungrateful idiot
Since we are the oldest team in the NBA, do yall think our player's legs have gone out by this time, resulting in their shooting slump? Man, I wish we had some youth. (Can't wait for Malick and Spannoulis(sp?))
