i meant to respond to this Originally posted by Severe Rockets Fan Thats what we need...we should trade Yao for a perfect basketball player, he'd be a GREAT compliment to Steve and Cuttino...
this is exactly the same feeling i have. so sad to see this become true. the guards need to know their responsibilty and there are more than one jobs to do on the court other than scoring.
DO you ever beliive those bonehead guards can ever play smart consistently? If so, JVG will never use out the Time outs. It is because the TO called by coach that keep our game under control. Our guards never know how to control, though they are 6th years players.
Actually, Yao got at least 2 offence rbns in 4th qtr,and made the ball. You can't ask yao to play like AS b/c he creates more threats in the paint than AS.
What I like about this game is that Yao is eventually becoming a go-to player which I doubted at the beginning of the season. The Rockets should acquire players who FIT in the inside-out offense. Kenny Smith commented on the Rockets' play tonight. There was a huge discrepancy between the 2 point field goal percentage and the 3 point field goal percentage. He said the guards attempted too many shots trying to challenge Marion and Amare. Kenny said the open shots that Yao creates from the defensive attention he attracted would always get open 3 point shooters for the Rockets. This is why JJ was going nuts from 3 point range. Steve and Cuttino tried to drive into the teeth of the defense. This goes against the principles of the inside-out offense. Shooters need to take their shots from outside and stop passing up open shots. I hope CD watched this game. I hope Les Alexander was there in Toyota Center watching. Doug Collins said "the pieces don't fit". He said it for a reason.
Tough lost, but the Rockets need to put some 3 to 4 game winning streaks together without losing too much in a row then we'll be fine.
I agree, although I gained a lot of respect for AS in this game...the dude just keeps comin at you. His shot was REALLY off today, which I think Cato and Yao had a good deal to do with, but he's relentless. I think his dunks really gave his team a boost and when the Suns stepped up their game, our backcourt shrunk like a jimmie in cold water.
I think the Rockets really missed the physical pressence inside from Mo Taylor and Clarence Weatherspoon. Besides the 6 blocks from Yao Ming, the Rockets had a difficult time down low with the rangy Suns. Not having Cato's weakside shotblocking also hurt the Rockets in the painted area tonight.
I think JVG wanted that instead of just taking jumpers. Steve and Cat tried to drive it but when the fouls didn't go their way they abandoned that plan.
Just wondering did u guys notice there seems to me a personal vandetta or something with AS towards Yao which is not mutual. Stoudemire seemed pissed with all the attention Yao got last season and wants to constantly prove by slamming over Yao that he was the better player in that's year selection. I saw that dunk by him over Yao and he screamed like he was the King of kings or something even worse than Shaq. Shaq does his wave thing but quickly runs back on defence. This guy displayed himself after the dunk that he was on a broadway play or something. Totally unclassy. Cheers to SF who came up and elbowed him for that crap, but YAo needs to stand up to himself a make a statement not just to AS but to the league that he ain't going to take that crap. Just a little in face to face on him talking chinese or broken english What's your f ucken problem? Do that Again and I'ii b**** slap u, get it man? I hope Yao's does a reverse dunk on him nxt time and blows a gig fart in his face. I know that's not classy but pls induge me it would be hilarious.
he was a big 7-26! pretty darn near shot his team out of the game. what i do like though is that he was pretty clutch at the end. he got blocked by yao a ton and kept going at him... i guess that's confidence... but over-confidence?
if you watched the bit right before tipoff, they were smiling and chatting. seemed like they were getting along real well. both guys are pretty classy actually. steve punched AS and to his credit he didn't really even fight back.
Anyone else seen that Crown Royal billboard on the right side of Hwy 59 Southbound @ Chimney Rock? On the billboard, there's a basketball on the right, knocking over an open bottle of Crown Royal, with its contents spilling out onto the center of the billboard. The message on the billboard reads "Another costly turnover" There is no Rockets logo on the billboard, no mention of the team whatsoever. But it's so obvious, the Rockets could sue Crown Royal for trademark infringement, AND WIN!
Oh cmon Roc, Amare is their only low post presence and he was 7-26. 24 points by AS on 26 shots, I'd say that good D. Marion killed us again today, as usual. Do you really think the loss of this game came squarely on our low post presence?
Tough loss. Turnovers in crunch time were what killed the Rockets. When the Rockets had a 5 point lead with about a minute left and I think Mobley threw that inbound pass to nobody and the Suns went on a fastbreak to pick it up for a layup that really sealed the deal for me that the team wasn't going to close out. I felt the team didn't go to Yao enough in the post in the 4th and that there were just too many cross court passes in the halfcourt that favored the Suns athletic players on defense. What we really missed was MoT I thought. Padgett as good of a shooter as he may be is a one dimensional scoring jump shooter. MoT is one dimensional offensively but atleast has an array of inside and outside moves. I think a lot of people on the board got too ahead of themselves with the win streak and were expecting the team to go 17-0 the rest of the way and were unrealistic. I'll be content with .500 ball the rest of the way with a few upsets against some of the elites on the road. Tough loss but not the end of the world.
Yea i agreed, I don't know what is up with that guy. What more does he want?? He got the ROY ...what else does he wants?? I guess he's trying to prove he deserve it ...but he'll never going to prove he's better than Yao cuz Yao is just a better overall player and more popular and he can not take that away from Yao ...unless he can grow to 7'6" in the next few years.
After checking the stats ofthe game, you can draw some conclusion. FGM-A 3GM-A FTM-A OFF DEF TOT AST PF ST TO BS PTS Suns 31-88 8-19 29-40 19 29 48 18 25 14 15 7 99 35.2% 42.1% Team Rebs: 7 Rockets33-84 13-25 18-25 14 41 55 23 27 4 22 9 97 39.3% 52.0% 72.0% Team Rebs: 16 Fgm,3gm,and reb can make up ft gap,our to's is key. And,do you all still rembember at 1st half,we lead 21 pts? Why Suns catch up? our defence sick.We all look upon the suns.
Did you ever watch the game or just make up something according to last season's plays? Yao fought hard to get his positions, other players just ignore him. In another post by Haven, his wife pointed out that every player of this team wanted to get their own share regardless what a talented center they ever have. Never feel so bad about a loss. I've thought this team has got its run, which turned out a fake. I really really feel sorry for Yao. Dude did everything for the Rockets, though shut down by his own teammates. If you happened not to watch this game, I won't blame you. Go read the stats, Yao got 7 off rebs, which means 7 out of 16 shot attemps were created by himself. Everyone outside Houston says it is Yao's team now, which is not true, at least for its own other players. I just wish he won't be too much dissapointed with the loss as me and other fans, and just keeps carrying ROCKETS further in the playoffs.
Maybe JVG also thout that no necessary to let Mot and Spoon play in the game. Never look upon your contenders.!
