Diaw guarding Yao reminds me of Bill Hanzlick guarding Ralph Sampson, used to give Ralph fits.

I think Yao is figuring out his place, and his confidence level is off the charts, did you guys see him yell at the refs in the 2nd half for not calling a foul?

I love it....27-18 again...wow, he is only 5 rebounds shy of averaging 10 RPG.

If he gets 15 rebounds against the 76ers he will be a 20-10 player .....wow !

How many other number 1 picks are doing that now?

We need both Yao and Tmac to beat the better teams. Right now, Tmac is not playing all that well, and Yao seems to have found his place.

Maybe this is just a hiccup as TMac adjusts to a new stronger Yao....

NO, I was there...in the CFs section, standing the whole game. We'll see come playoff time if we can win with Mac having an off game.

I agree with ya on this one. Alston seems like a typical "momentum" player. When the team does well and everyone shoots well, he becomes a star and does amazing things. But when we start losing gripe on the game, his game simply diminishes and makes some stupid decisions.

Honestly though, it's really tough to play defense against the Suns. Not only can everyone shoot 3s consistently, they also make high percentage shots in the lane. So if you're a coach and you know in your mind that there's no way you can keep a team like the Suns from scoring, you just have to try to make them hit the shots in the lane. If I were JVG, I'd take a 2 over a 3 any day. Don't double team when a Nash or Marion drives in the lane. Let their guy guard them and let Yao be the last line of defense. If they can still get the ball in, good for them. But don't leave the OTHER 3 sharp shooters standing by themselves behind the arch.

As long as we don't meet the Suns in the playoffs we should be alright. :)

What a freakin' weak argument from a weak TMAC ONLY FAN. Unlike you I actually try to think about what I say before saying it.

    :D

By the way, next time use some real information to support your arguments. You're simply ignoring reality.

Think what up? If post counts were actually an indication of "ranking," Clutch wouldn't even be an administrator. There have to be at least 30-40 members with more posts than he does.

That's the consensus around here. People get respect for the quality of posts, not quantity.

Where are you getting the tmac only fan crap? Face the facts.....in the playoffs or any other BIG game, if McGrady has a bad game more then likely we will lose!

Give credits to JVG, it took him 2 games to finally able to draw a way to get yao the ball in the post but it only took ONE QTR for the suns coach to change their defense on yao.

I am not pissed at all after today's loss cause it is expected. We have Sixers, Nuggets, Blazers, Wolves and Pacers coming up the next 5 games. I hope the rockets can at least have a 4-1 records to bring the total up to 29-33.

I know there are alot Tmac fans on this board recently but i can tell you, the entire rockets seasons depend on T-mac's "Personal Drama" now not because of the reason, if tmac goes the rockets go but because T-mac is a Max salary player and he must play like one.

    AMEN!

    JVG is pretty honest

    http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Post_Game_Quotes_022706-169970-822.html

ROCKETS HEAD COACH JEFF VAN GUNDY
(on the team's play) "Against that team (Phoenix), we're at a quickness disadvantage, so it makes it look like an effort disadvantage, when it truly is a quickness thing. And we don't have the habit or discipline...we're shooting to overcome that. On defense we do maybe one thing, one-and-a-half things, but we can't help and recover and then guard the ball. They went by us the whole night, which puts you in disadvantages and it takes great discipline and habits to play well against them (Phoenix). You're going to have to shoot the ball, make some shots, which we don't. We're a bad shooting team."

(on the play of Shawn Marion) "He's pretty good. He's quicker than us, he rebounds the ball exceedingly well, he's a higher energy and effort player than anyone at his position in the league. He's disruptive defensively; he's pretty good."

(on what the Rockets need to do to improve their defense) "He (Steve Nash) went by Yao (Ming) in the pick and roll. It's a tough cover for Yao (Ming).
He was by Yao (Ming) every time which compacted our defense, then we're scrambling, then they're driving us the next time, (Shawn) Marion's cutting.
And again, you'd have to have unbelievable habits and unbelievable discipline to combat that. We're slow...we're a slow team comparatively in the NBA. As we go forward, we're going to try and get quicker and tougher, develop better habits, more discipline and, obviously, we need more guys who can dribble and penetrate like they do and who can shoot like they do."

    Very well said, JVG.

Add to that the fact that we were on a back to back -- truth is the only way we could have won this game was if the Suns had decided to lay down for us.

Everywhere i read, Keith Bogans is a very good perimeter defender.

Do you guys thinks he can at least slow Nash??? Did JVG try this ??

But isn't the way to break zone defense is penetration and outside shooting, which is Suns' strength?
