I like your attitude. We have memphis, chicago, atlanta, and memphis again coming up. They are all winnable. Yao just had a bad game, sometimes that happens. I expect a strong Yao performance in the next game. We just need to win one game to get started on a roll.
Right now Yao's trade value has dropped so low we would have to package a first round draft choice plus Yao to get Dampier. Yao has been a bust so far this year, I think he is putting too much pressure on himself after signing that max deal along with the fact that McGrady made him so much better. JVG is stubborn but I think he really needs to change his offensive sets and game plan because it plain isn't working right now. As has been suggested, put Yao in the high post and lets see if we can create some penetration by curling around him, running pick and pops with him etc.
I love the Rockets whether they go 82-0 or 0-82. The truth is Yao needs to renegotiate his contract , because he is NOT worth the max. With the money we need to improve on defense and rebounding. If he doesn't want to negotiate trade his twinkie ass for KG! JVG your on the hot seat....... Luther Head keep up the good work David Wesley/Ryan Bowen class acts with good effort EVERY NIGHT
Not particularly but a texas basketball fan in general. It's hard to stomach the Squirts boards as they are so full of themselves. But the rox boards are kinda funny right now. The rest of the league would probably kill for Yao and the fans want to run him off. I also get a chuckle out of the never-ending griping about refs, I don't know where that comes from but it's kinda funny. I know all fans fuss about the refs, but the kings and the houston fans seem to be a moreso.
Got to disagree with you Sage, Yao is an excellent passer and jump shooter , at least he was when he came into the league. I think his skills in these areas have deteriorated due to Jeff Van Gundy's offensive schemes rather than help him become an all-around player. It would be great if Yao can bang in the low post at times and be more of a jump shooting center as well. But JVG focuses on one style too much-he needs to blend both of these styles. Yao having to struggle in this style of play is doing a number on his confidence , and lack of confidence and lack of mental toughness go hand in hand. Although , I don't doubt this coaching staff's work ethic, I do doubt their flexibility and their creativity and this is where I think they have failed Yao. I do NOT think this is lost on the coaching staffs of other teams which is why I think Yao will be in demand (if put up for trade) for more reasons than his marketabilty.
THIS JUST IN...... ROCKETS FINED BY DAVID STERN FOR THEIR OFFENSE. $100 million ----CONDUCT DETRIMENTAL TO THE LEAGUE!!!
Actually as frustrated as i've been, I think only US rockets fans would say that his trade value has dropped. I bet every other GM in the NBA wouldn't think twice about packaging for YAO only. When a player of Yao's caliber struggles this early in the season, only fans of that team would devalue that player. Everyone else would look to get a steal (Tmac for example)
Well in all fairness, Yao sticks out like a sore thumb and I do agree that he is the worst reffed player in the NBA, not to mention to the toughest to officiate.
in the first half, yao only played 8 minutes....maybe 9 minutes. that's it. did he even play in the 2nd period if any time at all? it was definitely irritating to see yao couldn't get the ball....fronting can be a problem and the guards definitely need to do a better job getting him the ball. all night long, ESPN kept showing yao fighting for position, calling for the ball....didn't get it, the guards kept swining the ball around and around the perimeter.... yao did fight for position....i saw times yao was open and he wasn't given the ball.....
I taped the game and just watch it...I have to say something so here goes: YAO IS A PIECE OF **** !!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to say that...Please people don't post anything that is positive about YAO...Theres is nothing positive to say about Yao. He just sucks and has no heart for the game. The rest of the Roxs are at least trying and Yao is just nothing more than big Mongolod Statue just standing around scratching his balls. I'm sorry if I'm being hard on Yao but I took up for him for years and thats it. After watching him tonight he should be ashamed of himself. He got the Max and he needs to give some of that money back. Maybe Les can call China and ask for it back since Yao has to split all his earnings 50/50 with them. I don't care , hey Yao at least give me my $169 back for the NBA league Pass.. Okay I feel better now...But I'd still like to see a Yao trade....
Actually JVG took Yao out in the first half not because of foul trouble (he had none) but because Yao was not doing anything to counter the fronting and physical play of Diaw. My whole point is Yao did not try to assert himself from the opening tip. That is the most frustrating part to go along with the 4th quarter antics of our guards not passing to a WIDE OPEN YAO. I just don't get why YAO couldn't just throw DIAW or whoever is fronting him aside. WHO CARES IF YAO FOULS OUT IN THE FIRST HALF, it would definitely send a message. That's all I was saying.
Renegotiate his contract? what are you talking about? That is just not going to happen in the business world. If he's not worth the max, why would wolves want trade KG for him? Your argument is totally self-contradictory. A 19/9 guy acting as the team's core defense and offense force is less valuated for his efforts in your eyes than those subpar role players perhaps no other teams in the league want to have. There must be something wrong with you or another...
I'm going backwards reading some of the past posts from tonight and I can see about 98% of us are still riding that Hate Yao Bandwagon....One thing I noticed tonight was that the Rockets passed up so many shots even Luther. If I was Head I would just take the ball down the court everytime and jack it up !!!!! I mean what have we got to lose we are going to lose anyways. The Roxs have dug themselves a deep hole and on ESPN tonight they said T-Mac was out for at least 2 more weeks....Lottery here we come...
I'm trying to catch up !!! I'm home for the holidays and went to see that Johnny Cash Movie....Now thats a tough man and I don't even really like Cash but if Yao had his balls then maybe he'd get a rebound or a basket ...Whoever posted about Yao fouling out in the 1st period and sending a message...GREAT POST...I mean that seriously... Who cares if Yao fouls out in the first minute....An whats up with Deke ? He's our best cheerleader
DANG'OL!!! Coincidentally, that poster was me. lol Anyhow I just want Yao to simply fight back. I mean he is backing down from the opening tip to Dang'ol DIAW!!!! COME ON!!! NO FIGHT or resistance, just submission. Unbelievable! Hope this team turns it around.....
Well Dabien thats just it..I don't think Yao will ever be that tough hard player he never was and at times has shown stints of it. I've been watching the Roxs since 1980 and this doesn't look to good. Of course I want us to turn it around or I'm going to be posting from a hospital bed recovering from a heart attack. I can't stand losing and this just sucks...and T-Mac out for another 2 weeks...MAN !!!!!!!!! It does look like DA is coming around and we have Luther but do we want Skip to my Lou to skip back onto the court... I'm bashing him and hes been out but man has he SUCKED ....Lets Hope we turn this around
