Yao have 34-9 last year when they finnaly have a fully healthy team and did not play a back to back game. Last 4 of the las 5 games vs Phx are the las game of back to back, the only game they did't have a back to back and they won.
Basketball. True, I didn't have to chase top athletes, but are they supposed to be top athletes too? Shouldn't it be roughly equivalent?
It is hardly amusing. Downright disgraceful. The biggest man in the NBA consistently taken out by fronting and physical play and his persistent whining and crying to the refs. gets on my nerves. FYI I have always been a big Yao's fan but I will call a spade a spade. He sucks right now and we lost the last 2 games primarily because of him and Bonzi.
The problem is the racist referees! Look at all the grabbing and pulling on Yao, and no call??! It's not Yao's fault at all cause the refs are being pricks. Yao touches someone lightly, it's a foul. But when Yao gets pulled and grabbed, it's not a foul, wtf?! Is David Stern stupid?! He pisses off China, he's gonna lose lots of money. Look how many people in China watches the NBA. STOP THE BIASED CALLS against the big man Yao! STUPID REFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I found it comical actually. last home game, Rocket fans were yelling for Steve to get some playing time. Today Steve comes in the game in first half. You would expect a loud ovation/cheer from the fans based on how badly they wanted him in. Instead, it's just dead like how Toyota Center usually is. Couple minutes later the noise level at the Center starts to grow once people start realizing Stevie is in. People who attend the Rockets game, PLEASE WAKE UP!
I was paying attention and I almost didn't notice. I don't think they announced it over the PA, or at least I didn't hear it.
Steve started the 2nd quarter. It took the fans a good minute or two of basketball before they recognized it was #3 out there with the sleeve on his arm. Any time he touched the ball in the 2nd quarter there was cheering(much like some teams boo an opposing player when he touches the ball)....
Im pretty sure the camera men who worked this game are suffering from severe whiplash due to the lack of transition D from the Rox. Before i even had a chance to praise a make on the Rox end, the suns were getting whistles down on the other end. I would also think Bonzi would seek some medical attention for being snake bit...MAKE A FRIGGIN LAY UP! (its cool though, i know the legs must have felt like jello after 5 games in 7 nights) I also really didn't like the fact that Skip was willing to ignore James in the right corner(at the 4 min mark in the 1q) after he sunk like 4 shots in a row. You gotta feed the hot hand, and stop forcing up bad lay-ups...and dont be so concernd with trying to daw a foul. I mean you missed the whole entire rim on a 2 on 1 fast break. Like Mark Jackson says "Your better than that"(Or are you?) Now that ive vented a little bit...How bout that Scola? Great touch off the glass for that guy. He's being very good about stayin under control while posting up, and moving at a speed suitable for his game. SF3 looked like...well, good. Sure his shooting was off, but thats a given seeing as this is his first action all season. Nice passes in the paint, and he really didnt try to press the issue. As for James/Head/AB/Kirk...nice to see, well AB, its just plain nice to see you on the court, but as for the others...Good stuff.
blocked shots: suns 10 rockets 0 that's what happens when yao sits. without tmac we have no offense and without yao we have no interior defense. we sucked all around defensively tonight though, and most of it had little to do with yao being in foul trouble. i mean yao doesn't help transition d, and where was that tonight. we should be fast enough this year to at least stay between barbosa and the basket.
So? One is a franchise player and the other supposedly spurs killer. They are expected to do that. And that is the point!
And the dumbest casual fan gets to trash someone who performed quite consistently in the past 5 years compare to other players to make himself feel better. Look who is whining now? Nice to meet you, pot. Yellow men have inferiority complex and only dare to hate on own people. There I fixed your signature for you. Please don't response to this post because you are now in my ignore list. Don't say I didn't tell you before you waste more time.
Some of you posters need to grow up. When Scola was a no show for the first few games, everyone was like Scola sucks, Scola was a mistake, blah blah blah. Now that he's shooting well, all of a sudden your on the bandwagon? Yao and Bonzi clearly sucked the last two games but you were quiet the games before that when they were owning. Same thing happens when Tmac is having a poor shooting night. All of a sudden people post idiot stuff like Tmac this and Tmac that. Enough with the Trade Tmac, trade Yao posts cause it aint happening. Now go root for your damn team.
I dunno if any of you guys noticed, but part of the reason why teams are getting such open looks at the 3 is Battier. Watch him, he will ALWAYS cheat off of his man to try and get a charge or strip. With all the accolades he gets, he is a bit of a glory hound. Look at the last three losses, and you will notice the Fakers, Spurs, and now phoenix shot about 50% from 3...FIFTY PERCENT!!!! I know everyone thinks Battier does all the intangibles on D, but he is very undisciplined. He tries to roam and be at the ball all the time. I think he wants to make the all defense team. He needs to watch Bruce Bowen a little more.
I just got in an hour ago after a night out. I went to this game and I knew it was gonna be real tough for us to win, but I was pleasantly surprised to see Francis get in the game. I felt that was a moral victory. He looked good and he wasn't out of shape. He was a little rusty and there was some lack of conditioning, but considering he hasn't played a regular season game since April, he looked good. Those that have played bball know that to get in game shape you have to play in actual games. His shot was a lil off, which was to be expected, but instead of continuing to shoot, he drove in, penetrated, and created for himself and others while everybody else was just standing around. A few games and he will start hitting his shot and those layups will turn into dunks. Also, I saw him crash the boards and give a couple of hard fouls. Most importantly, Rockets made their best run with him in the game. Scola has finally turned the NBA corner I think. He seems to have lots of confidence on the offensive end, but needs to work more on his defense. Kirk Snyder needs to take the ball to the hole and not shoot it. AB looked good in garbage time. The back court of MJ and Rafer is a disaster. Rafer looked real good on the bench, which is where he should stay - for a very long time. As a matter of fact, the Rockets need to get rid of him. They have 3 other pgs who are better than he is. Francis's play seemed to inspire the team. Even Luther Head, who's been atrocious this season, picked up when he was in the back court with Francis. Head, however, needs to stop dribbling and handling the ball unless he has to. Until he can more to his offensive game, he should spot up at the 3 pt line, wait for somebody to penetrate and kick it to him, and shot most of the time. Yao needs to be more aggressive. He needs to call for the ball and demand that it be given to him. Also, the layups that are being missed will eventually go in. The law of averages dictates so. Nevertheless, it would be nice to see Yao or Bonzi dunk it if they can. Francis making his return is especially positive for a few reasons. First, it might inspire others to raise their level of play. Particularly if playing time is at stake. Thus, the team becomes more competitive. Second, it showed us that a rusty Steve Francis, who hasn't played forever, is better than a game ready Rafer Alston, who's played way too much for the Rockets the last couple of season. Steve will have bad games, but a bad game from him will be better than a good game from Alston. Last, it showed that we the people can still have an impact. There is no doubt in my mind that those "We Want Steve!" chants helped get Steve in a game sooner rather than later. We made him not playing an issue. We forced the media to bring it to the attention of the Houston Rockets coaches, players, and staff during interviews. Good to know that people can still affect what happens - no matter how small of an impact we had.
