Oh man Scola was kicking so much butt i had a big smile in my face almost the whole game. It did kind of annoyed me when he came in during the 3rd quarter and they just ignored him for a while. The man is on a roll. You shouldnt ignore him like that. I think the game was mostly decided when Rick wouldnt take Yao out and he kept posting up and missing. Yao doesnt play either the Suns or the Jazz well and its kinda pointless to leave him out there. Or better... leave him out there but spread the offense out. Dont have him post up again and again. The man is tired. He should concentrate on defense. Ill say this though... the Rockets didnt stop fighting. Steve, Snyder and Luther played pretty well. Steve in particular impressed me. He wasnt making his shots but he attacked the rim a couple of times in a way nobody else on this team but Tmac has the capability to do. We need him out there contributing if we are gonna go far in the playoffs this year. This team has the talent to win. The minutes just havent gotten distributed the right way. I have faith Rick is figuring it out. And very importantly, Scola showed his teammates that he needs to be involved. He is not some scrub. Give the man some touches!
Totally in agreement. It seems to me lately that Yao is a fade away specialist and horrible layup artist. He should stop trying to be a finesse player, though it may look cool at his size. In the last 4 games I have totally lost faith in him. He still doesn't get it that the dunk is the highest % shot. How many times in the past week have you seen him being blocked or missed while trying to lay one up. Pathetic. Now he even passes it out if someone makes a half heatred attempt at double teaming him! LOL, what wimpy play. No aggression or desire to even punish the single coverage. A loser.
What is the reason for you LOL? Was Yao not playing well so amusing to you? You are the one really pathetic!
man i noticed that too and pissed me off so bad...im like why the hell do they still have their starters in there?? ugh pathetic
I don't even know why rockets coaches play Yao against Phoenix. He has never had a good game against them. In fact, he becomes a liability for the team! We would have had a better chance without him! When are we trading Rafer?
yao had a couple good games agaisnt the suns. the rest of them, bad! his point stands. yao's more of a liability against the suns.
I didn't watch today's game because I had work, just looking at the box score and recap I can make these assumptions: The Bad: Yao will continue to struggle against fronting + constant double teaming defense. Bonzi not being able to hit a layup. We let Pheonix shoot at 62.3% The Good: James, Battier and Luther was out of their shooting slump tonight. Our smothering D forced pheonix a team high 25 turnovers. Francis getting a run so Stevie fans can be satisfied. Luis Scola! _ Blues
I don't care the ranking now. As long as we >=0.5 before All Stars break, all OK. and yes our role players getting better and better, that's encouraging.
Am I the only one that thought Stevie was way more effective than Rafer tonight even though he shot terrible? Steve helps open up the floor for Yao because the D has to respect him on the PnR. With McGrady out, we have no one to effectively run PnR with Yao except Stevie. Rafer doesn't work because all the D has to do is sag off of him and give him the shot that he doesn't want to take and nobody in Red wants to see him take. Steve forces the defense to play honest and he has the ability to thread the needle to Yao. We saw it tonight. After tonight's game, I would expect Adelman to continue to give Steve minutes at the expense primarily of Rafer and then of Luther.
No, sorry. Luther played better, and Ralston is consistently better. And I don't care for Ralston and love Stevie. But poor play is poor play; Steve will kill the Rockets if he doesn't improve.
I'd like to see a big lineup at some point. T-Mac, Battier, Landry, Scola, Yao. Battier's guarding some 2's anyway. Landry was money at midrange in pre-season and had good quickness.
A few points: 1. There are no moral victories. A loss is a loss. 2. Yao should give up NBA basketball. He gets no respect from the league. 3. Why should 5 games in 7 days be a factor? I played 9 games in 7 days and never felt tired. Aren't they supposed to be conditioned professional athletes?
um, if I recall correctly, Yao has had a couple of good games ... one game he had 27 pts, 22 rebs, and like 4 blocks I know he doesn't have crap games like this one every time we play the suns. but he does have them more than we'd all like.
Nice is the right work. Soft is someone that avoid contact and doesn't like a physical game. Nice is someone that doesn't like to be a dirty player even if he need to, is not in his DNA or ethics, he doesn't avoid contact he just not a bad person and dont want to hurt others. He is not agressive but he need to understand that sometimes you need to injure (not a career ending injure) someone for good. He is a good defender and have guard Shaq better than enyone and 350lbs shaq that many center just get out of the way. He doest avoid contact, nor even in his rookie season with a small body vs a veteran sometime dirty shaq. Amare will look like is a Strong player, but everybody knows that any strong center toy him in the post and move him arround thats why he always get help fron a teammate and they use to have Kurt Thomas to back him up.
games of what? scrabble? we're talking 250lbs guys pushing you, having to follow the top athletes in the world on defense. you have no idea what it's like dude. there's a reason high school teams can play multiple games in one day while college and pro teams cannot.
