I don't usually post in the post-game threads, but I have to vent. 6-5???? SIX AND EFFING FIVE? WHERE ARE THE EFFING FREE THROWS FOR YAO??? @#$($*@&*&!!!! On the plus side: Scola is looking awesome Steve got some PT. Thank you sweet tiny baby Jesus.
Plus on offense, what about all those questionable travelling calls, and those questionable offensive charging calls? On the replay, you can clearly see that some of them are false. If Yao Ming were allowed to play the way that other players were allowed to play in the NBA, he would be one of the top 10 players in the game.
Is it me or are the Chinese-born posters here harder on Yao than everyone else -- besides NBA referees?
PHX shot can't miss and we shot 39%. Defense was almost nonexistence. PHX play together for long time and they were just clicking. Nash deliver the ball to planned target and all they have to do is know it down. We still a new team and show some potential but hopefully we'll be ready by Jan.
The Rockets need real athletes, like Shawn Marion, Amare Stoudamire, (in the power forward position), Marcus Camby, or Kevin Garnett. They'll never beat a real quick, athletic, team like the Suns, if they don't go out and get one of those tall athletic forwards to make up for the shortcomings of Yao and even Tracy McGrady.
Well I've pasted photos of Steve Francis already. As for Luis Scola, not that much photos of him taken during the game. But I managed to get a couple of them for you..... So here you are. Photos of the new home favorite at Toyota Centre in team shootout practice before the game with the Phoenix Suns.
Yes, they are. But I still think that the Rockets can beat them if they had a longer, leaner, lankier, more athletic team, even with a slower inside presence like Yao on the team. They need to completely overhaul their roster to be able to compete against the strong teams of the West and teh Boston Celtics, and they need to do it soon if they wish to win an NBA championship. the only 2 players who should be off the table should be Tracy and Yao, since they are the only 2 All-Star quality players that the Rockets have.
I was at the game and have never seen a team with such ability to move the ball wherever they wanted. Transition D was non-existent and to beat the Suns when they are shooting like they did tonight, you can't miss layups or free throws. 60% from the line tonight, and was horrible last game. This is one area that we HAVE to improve from. Bonzi kills me, god why can't he make a layup?? Adelman made the right move to sit him tonight. Glad to see SF3 and AB get minutes. Brooks looked lost defensively but as explosive as anybody else on the floor. I for one would love to see him get significant minutes against smaller, uptempo squads like Phoenix or Dallas. Steve proved he can be effective if given time. He definitely looked winded in between plays, and did not shoot the jumper effectively which is to be expected from a guy who has been benched for the last 10 games. No turnovers is a big boost for Steve. When he penetrated, he took care of the ball and distributed well. Would love to see him play more. Now that I think of it, I would just like to see Rafer sit more. I don't care if Adelman plays point.
If Steve can shoot like old days and played like tonight, we even win the game. Hope he'll get consistent PT to knock off his rust (10-12 min at least).
I liked the way Steve played today. In him and James, we have two aggressive guards who can break their man down and create plays. I almost forgot about that sick crossover James has, he should use it more instead of going for that off-balance J he takes sometimes (he should leave that to people who can actually make it, i.e. T-Mac).
Yao Ming started out the game pretty aggressively, and did well in the early going. I believe that if he did not pick up those 2 quick questionable fouls early on, and had not sat on the bench for such a long time, which took him out of his rythym. Then his shooting rythym would have been much better later on in the game, and he would have had a much better game.
