Yea, there were alot of uncontested. But there were also many that were just a player (mainly Q.Rich & Johnson) launching one out of the context of the offensive set. Almost like they were throwing up a shot just to put one up.

Yet he pulled down a double/double, clogged the lane, did a good job on Amare. Don't know if you saw the positive things he did because you sound like a Yao hater.

I think the Rockets have done a disservice to Yao. They have turned him into a player that is not discernible from Dikembe. Dikembe in no way should be skilled as Yao, but the team is playing better with Dikembe on the floor than Yao. There is no way Yao can be a better defender and rebounder than Dikembe. Noone remembers when Yao made Dikembe his b**** last year? Yao was hitting fadeaways and hook shots all over the place. He made a fool out of Dikembe.

I think Yao needs to examine where his game is going. Either he wants to brute it out or return back to the skill and finesse which Bill Walton so fondly remembers.

If Rockets fan want to see a big man who can only score via putbacks, layups, and dunks, there are plenty of them. I want to see the Yao who is scoring via hook shots and fadeaways again. That's the guy the opponents feared last year. That's the guy who was indefensible.

Ready as in his hands were around his hips, as the pass bounce right off of them?

    Sure he was ready....NOT !!

It was a miscommunication, I will give Yao a break, as most of the guards he has played with would have shot the ball.

Yao needs to be more alert at all times......I would have thrown it hard at his head, that way if he misses at least he remembers.

I heard a story about Larry Bird his rookie year.

He was in practice and hammering people in the head with passes, after a couple of practices whenever he had the ball everyone was alert....

Funny how pain can be a nice reminder.

    :)

I don't intend to defend Yao for the turnover. But if you never received a pass in a whole game even you are kinda open and the guards have been always just trying to shoot, what you expect? An offsnsive rebound or a possibly void pass? He might not be concentrated at that moment thoguh.

Yao has not recovered from flu,he looks tired.
Our problem is that Bob and T.mac could not hit the long balls. And Suns 3's hurt us.

Has Sura ever been a good 3pt shooter?

We really need him to hit about 33% of those to be effective with Yao in the game.

Sun did not played great except those uncontested 3's.i do not know what rocket player and coach thinking, after yao and Mutombo defend inside well, how still have so many open 3's? where were they? If Sun plays like tonight all the way,Rocket is able to beat them next 3 time as long as they play their advantage_____ inside game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

all things can prove one point:the rox was beaten by Nash and Marion, not Amare.Yaoming was good at defending Amare.unfortunetly,he didn't get many shooing chances.
By the way,I don't like JVG.HE is ruining yao's strengths

We should insist on half court offence which will slow Suns tempo.
Our biggest advantage is in the paint.
Remember the spot that Suns took only 3 second to shoot by A.S after Yao got offence rebound from A.S.'s head and made a layup.

Yao need more time and shots on the court. The rox was using its weaknesses against the sun's strengths.

Well, I guess now we are getting a clearer picture on how much these trades really improved this team. Looks like we are much improved and will actually beat the teams now that we were supposed to be beating all along but we are continuing to struggle against the upper echelon teams in the division.

It's gotta be the players, doesn't it? Sure can't be anything to do with the coach. Maybe we can trade DW and JB for an upgrade again and get even more competitive?????

Who defended Marion who was 9/13? Marion killed Rox in the 4th quarter.

Well Marion started as their PF...so i'll give you two guesses. Juwan Howard and Mo Taylor you say? WRONG! because they didn't defend him at all!

Quite contratry to some has observed, I think Yao played a very solid game. First, he defended Amare very well. Here're the stats:

    A. Stoudemire C 37 5-15 0-0 9-14 2 7 9 1 4 1 6 1 19
    Y. Ming C 28 6-11 0-0 2-2 3 7 10 0 3 1 0 1 14

Stoudemire shot 30% from the field while yao shot above 50%. Yao grabbed one more rebound and scored 5 points less while taking 4 fewer shots and playing 9 fewer minutes. I would give a tiny edge to Yao.

Talking about field goal percentage, why not give the high-percentage shooting guy more chances to score. I am a little baffled. T-mac jacked up 25 shots on less than 30% shooting. I bet nobody on that team dared to raise a question about that including Jeff Van Gundy. By contrast, Yao would be surely freezed out if he failed to score twice in a row. The difference? T-mac is a established superstar and Yao is only up-coming. But there's more.

We have talked about Yao getting more aggressive and assertive like forever. I think HE NEEDS TO GET MORE AGGRESSIVE WITH HIS TEAMMATES FIRST! How many times his teammates ignored him simply because they think he's a push-over!For me, that's a problem no less than the aggresive question against an opponent player. He's a freaking three time all star and second or third best center in the NBA! He should stand up for himself to the effect like "if you guys fail to give me at least 15 shots a game, screw it and don't expect me to look happy! If we don't get along, someone gets traded......"

To sum up, the day Yao stands up for himself before teammates and stops being a pushover is the beginning of time when he plays great basketball.
