T-Mac took over the 2nd quarter, the guy is too unselfish, had he kept scoring and pulled out some Kobe Bryant 81 stuff out his ass, we would have a good chance instead of losing by 20-something points.
Eh...its true we do need a replacement for Rafer. Preferably right friggen now. But still, Novak's more of a PF, so the people ahead of him are actually Juwan and Chuckie...not exactly superstar material.
True. But Tony parker also couldn't shoot in the earlier stages of his career. I don't see how that has hampered him. I think Felton is a good example of a player that can't shoot that well either. I have watched him since his UNC days. He made out just fine. Darrell Armstrong is yet another player - a very solid backup pg that energizes the team. Learning how to shoot in games situations is completely different from practice, as Shaq can attest to that with his free throws and alston with his 3pt shooting. If you only give Vspan less than 2 minutes a game, even if he was able to shoot in practice, there would be almost no way for him to learn how to shoot in a real game. JL3 has an advantage over Vspan in that regard because he actually did play for an NBA team, and then proceeded to play in the NBDL. Vspan hasn't even been given that opportunity.
I am still a Bill advocator. Rookies make mistakes. That is why they need to develop. I don't understand why your guys are so harsh on him, considering Alston/Head definitely sucked tonight and were proven again and again that they are not our answer in the PG. You don't expect him come in and play like Nash. It is gonna take time, show a little patience. The worst case scenario, he is proven a bust, and we know we have to make an addition in the summer at least. I know the "Vspan-petting" of some posters here annoys a lot of anti-Bills. However micro-analysis all the critics get isn't exactly that smart/justified either. Personally, I still wish he gets more chances to play. Couldn't be much worse than Head running the point.
Yeah! They're now saying that Yao will be back on Monday to get him in shape for the playoffs. 22 games left to get him back in the groove should be enough don't you agree guys!?
LOL at you backpeddling. You wouldn't be saying that if he had met your expectations playing with scrubs (McGrady, Luther, Hayes, and Snyder).
T-mac was not exactly trying to cut to the basketb or get himself open at that moment. No matter how good T-mac is, you can't get open just by standing as a stationary target, and neither can any pass miraculously open things up for you under those circumstances.
At some point, you need to admit he was not having a good game tonight. I have to say this is not the Bill I want to see. Be a little objective, support him in a proper (instead of blind) way. Some of your comments generate nothing but pure hate toward the poor rookie...
very bad game for us, I was expecting something like this due to the game vs Denver... Denver let us do whatever we wanted, SA put the damn pressure on us all game long, props to Pop for getting his team straight, they outplayed us tonight without a doubt good to see Novak and Span getting some minutes, only the midget used his minutes right tonight, thats why he's in front of Span or Novak.... Span made some stupid mistakes, the pass into the crowd was unnecessary, the other to are forgivable... I want comment on the others, we got outplayed tonight
For those who questions Bonzi, think about this fact -- what is the common factor of the two wins and two losses against Spurs this year? We won both games that Bonzi played. We lost both games he did not play.
JL3 and Snyder were all just looking for their own shots in the 4q. There were no opportunities for teamwork whatsoever. I think if we played Vspan along with his greek teammates, against almost any team formulated with scrubs, you would be able to see the difference. The fact is, nobody is working with Vspan among the scrubs, henced, like Nick pointed out, his effectiveness is neutralized, unless he drives to the hole and gets fouled, which was what happened in the dying minutes of the game. If you ignore the fact that Vspan came out with his comments, it is absolutely startling that we are so much more leniant with Luther and Alston than Vspan. Just because Luther and Alston decides to shoot instead of attempting a pass - which leads to a turnover in Vspan's case, makes them any better. In my eyes, those are all bad plays. Its just that one shows up in the form of a horrendous shooting % and the other makes up for his horrendous decision making by doing one thing well, and that is shoot 3s. But when you evaluate all 3 of them in the role of pg alone, and that is both on offense and defense... I really don't see the superior differences that people point out.
I don't think its about "Vspan petting." It is more geared towards the intolerance for any of the guys mistakes. For goodness sake, this is the first year he is playing in a foreign league!
I shudder to think of the result of Spanoulis' FG% if he had "horrendous decision making" like the others. Then you need to re-evaluate your evaluation criteria.
Frustrating loss all the way around....I suppose it's a given that the rest of this thread will turn into "Vspan yes," "Vspan no," now.... Anyway, Yao back on Monday, so let's forget about this one and look forward to seeing the return of our two-headed monster!
