Out of the 3 PF's that were available Swift was the one with the recognised shotblocking ability. Last season Yao struggled with fouls a problem he didn't have in the previous year with Cato at PF.

A seven-point difference somewhere in the 4th quarter could be called close in another game but not this one. The Rockets pretty much played a catch up game all night long. The Spurs' shots were falling from all cylinders, not just Duncan's. Duncan did hit a couple of shots when a banged-up and foul-troubled Yao was guarding him, but one of these shots was as ugly looking (aka lucky) as it could get. If you have to name the player of the game, it is Tony the Desperate Parker for crissake.

What a stupid post! Did you watch the game? Yao was contantly doubled or even trippled. And Duncun needs only to play Yao one-on-one.

Why we don't double duncun? Because our role players sucked in defense.
Why they can double Yao??? Because our role players sucked in offense.

It was Tmac who wanted Damon Stoudamire and Stro on Rockets. Damon's price was too high, Stro was supposedly "cheap". There is a reason that Jerry West let the guy go for nothing.

Speaking of which, I remember TMac said he wanted to make Stro an all-star or something to that effect, but does anyone know what specifically TMac did to help Stro?

The game made me sick tonite. Where did all those Spurs fans come from. That was downright embarrasing in the Toyota center.

I was at the game, and JVG blew this one. The spurs played poorly and were ripe for the taking. Even with our injuries if we had a decent coach we would have been right in this game at the end. JVG's offensive schemes are awful. He had our guards driving in and going nowhere. Yao did not get nearly enough touches. Spacing was horrible. When Yao did get the ball and was doubled he was standing almost 3 or 4 feet from the 3pt line on the sideline where the guards were set up. Stromile was effective early so what does JVG do? Bury him on the bench until the 4th quarter.

When will people learn, our defense isn't and never was our problem. It's the offense, and JVG is inept when it comes to planning an offense.

    Fire that stupid ass mother****er.

Will, maybe this is the game the incomprehensible Stro love finally dies. His performance tonight really isn't surprising. He's laid quite a few eggs this year. But before the season is up, I'm sure Stro will have 1 or 2 double-doubles that will make a precious few remain hopeful about what he can do here next year if he was made the starting PF.

    Beat by Scrubs......

Both Dallas and San Antonio rested some of their better players with Faux injuries.....

And they both whipped the Rockets A$$....

No matter how Yao plays, our team still sucks.

Bogans plays tough but can't shoot.
Rafer is just horrible as a shooter
    Head is too inconsistent.
    Howard is a servicable backup.

So, out of all our starters, only Yao should be one...

This team would struggle in the NBDL....COME ON DRAFT PICK !!

I can't believe somebody still thinks JVG is one the top 3 coaches in the league.

T-Mac was only speaking figuratively, sort of like Shaq telling GP come to Miami and I'll win you a ring.

One positive about the game was Luther Head dribble penetrating with success instead of camping out at the 3 point line and taking that low percentage shot. He had a couple of nice dimes as well. LH looked like Tony Parker tonight.

and the plan for the rockets this season was to play a more up tempo game, but when the injuries happened early and often the gameplan changed.

I know I was at the game and I was like no way in the world red alert can overcome all these spurs fans. I was just disgusted but I was yelling and screaming my ass off to annoy as many spurs fans as possible.

I was outside and saw those girls with the spurs banner and I wanted to just steal it and run off with it.

If you take both yao and TD outta the game, rox will be blown out. Spurs are simply a better team. You can't just look at a couple of possessions. It's not like yao's baskets are not as important as TD's.

Simply put, JVG got out-coached...again. How surprising...

Alston has been playing horribly recently. Especially his decision making down the stretch is painful to watch: bad shot, bad driving, bad attacking direction, unforced TOs ... In a word, unpredictable at all. Plus, he may be the worst starting PG in this league defensively. I've been tired on watching his man backing him up at will, which always forced Rox double team, or shooting some wide open jumpers due to his nonexistent D.

The problem for him offensively is that, when he tries to do too much, he actually hurts this team. He could be a solid backup PG though. I simply can't expet any positive contribution from him until TMac's back to the lineup.

Besides Yao, Deke and Stro, our field goal shooters (I include Jho) were 19-45 in total, 0-7 for 3p's, and 19-38 or 50% for 2p's and layups. I've been saying that this team should shoot fewer 3p's and have the guys shoot more 2's, and have Luther drive more - he seemed scared to drive the first 4 months.

I agree that when this team does drive they lack the sense or ability to know when they can finish and when they need to pass it off to either a big or to a trailer - which right now there usually isn't a trailer. Too many guys standing stationary around the perimeter.

Rafer cuts across the paint all the time - Worrell commented on it the last game - and then does nothing with the ball and no-one is looking to be set up by Rafer for a dunk, layup or short range 2. Yao has done a few plays in the last 3-4 weeks where he moves from the top of the key toward the hoop , takes a pass while moving and puts it in the hole.

We are like 3 steps behind the Suns in learning to do this type of motion offense. And I'm not sure Gundy is even coaching this stuff or if the players work on it on their own. Maybe Yao and Rafer need to start watching tapes of Nash & Co. on the plane & bus.
