Look around... there's at least one thread about it, if not more, and it's been discussed a bit in other threads. Welcome to the board!
Ugh, I live in San Antonio so the Rockets broadcast was blacked out on League Pass and I had to watch the Spurs one... Sean Elliot and Douchey McDouche over there are the worst pair or broadcasters I've ever heard. I couldn't believe after reading some Spurs forums today that people think Bill & Clyde are bad. (To be fair though, the Glide is just awful.) It was the most blatantly homeriffic crap I've ever heard. Elliot kept calling shots garbage, dissing Yao Ming, and just being a complete homer. Sean Elliot not only has the absolute worst voice for announcing (seriously, just get Richard Jefferson in there while you're at it) but he's a complete moron and Spurs homer. Ughhhh.
Their announcers totally suck, as do the ones for the Mavs. Complete homerism, where every call against your team is a blown call, and every good play by the other team should have been called a foul. I don't know how they can stand it. Bill, Calvin (whoops!), Bull, and even Clyde (sometimes) will criticize the Rocks when deserved, or say a call thought bad was the right call by a ref after watching the rerun. We're lucky. It's a lot more fun that way. The other team's guys are like watching a Valium do its thing, sitting in a chair in a suit, zoning you out until you snooze..
Actually, after watching last night's game, I came away impressed with the Mavs announcers...maybe it's because they were on NBA TV and they wanted to look unbiased...but they came across as pretty tame for a homer announcing team...especially the Mavs. I'd never heard them before, but considering the obnoxiousness of the city, the team, and the fans, I was expecting something truly awful... I'd listen to the Mavs announcers again, if I had to. The Spurs announcers I muted towards the end of the 4th quarter...and for several stretches throughout the game.
i missed the game :S any game highlights out yet? i wanna see deke's dunk...it only happens once in a while...lol...but he's damn gd!!
Actually, I am even more curious as to how the Rockets are going to identify themselves after this game. Are they a fast team? A slow team? A high rebounding team? An offensive team? A defensive team? All of the above? If anything, I hope that the Rockets can continue to put up high rebound (offensive and defensive) numbers, play their stifling defense and eventually excel in their offensive execution.
Yea my FSN shows all Dallas games.....and I gotta tell you....everything about them sucks hairy man balls.....sorry that was unnecassary..
Last night, while watching the game, I had to listen to the San Antonio announcers. Such punishment for an old man was undeserved. Such country bumkins, who knew so little about the Rockets and at least 95% of the time they were only focusing on what San Antonio was doing or running the Rockets down by tell in you how poor they have been in previous years and experiences. The only saviour was the fact that we WON! PS Towards the end of the game Shaugn Elliot condesended to make a couple of positive comments about Yao Ming.
Even Bill was critical of Rafer's D on Parker....The Spurs and Mavs crew would never be caught saying something bad about their "Home" team
on a side note, the rockets announcers are widely regarded as insane homers. so I mean I guess they are just doing their job :/... now when a national broadcast starts favoring one side, that's when you should complain. but the spurs fans don't want to hear about how awesome yao ming is and how the whole city of SA will be torn down by yaozilla. just put it on mute and turn on 610 and listen to the legendary broadcast of gene.
You must not have league pass as the rockets announcers are definitely not homers compared to most teams, so I am not sure where you get the "widely regarded" description. And if you have ever had to go through the pain of listening to the San Antonio announcers you would feel the pain of Yetti. Sean Elliot must be one of the worst announcers in the whole NBA. I prefer listening to Clyde's bumbling repetitions to Sean Elliot any day.
Every time we play the Spurs especially as of recent, it's a dogfight (translation: very physical, very defensive) but, the Rockets despite everything still scored 89 points! I think more than a few times, the Spurs have held us under 80 and even 70 points. So believe it or not, it could've been worse. Our Offensive flow already is starting to look MUCH better but, it's still early and LOTS of room for improvement. That point should scare the Western Conference. Better O, and roughly same equivalent D? Come January/February we're gonna be scary for our opponents and fun to watch. I'm lovin' the Rockets already.
