Not if Deron Williams has anything to say about it. They are both great, but I give Deron the edge for being an all around better shooter.

Actually NBATV broadcaster Andre Aldridge, Rick Kamla love the Rockets, I can tell.

our guards can stay in front of deron. he doesn't possess the quickness paul has. deron has a better shot but paul is better at playmaking (penetration and quickness).

and deron plays w/ a better team. paul is making an average hornets team into a potentially great team.

So forget the Dal and Spurs games are real tests. We wont be the same 3 months later and regular season Spurs are different from playoff Spurs. Just one game, enjoy it, but dont carried away too far. We can beat Spurs at least once every season, and we usually split 4 games with them.

It wasnt a pretty game. We got the bounces.

I haven't read all the posts, what do you guys think of Rafer tonight? Why the hell does he keep shooting when he's the worst percentage shooter in the league.. and Chuck Hayes is almost an offensive zero as well. And we still won tonight, even with all the sloppiness.

    Ya know what?

Considering we opened the season against:
LA Lakers, Utah, Portland, Dallas, and San Antonio,
4-1 is a pretty damn good record!

This is gonna be a helluva season.

I mean, that's cool and all. ESPN.com is slightly more mainstream than some wrap up show hosted by a couple of nobodies though.

yea, and THE GOOD THING beyond the record => WE HAVE NOT PLAYED OUR BEST BALL.

our offense right now is pretty average. one night it's tmac. one night it's yao. one night it's one + the bench.

we haven't put the whole enchilada together consistently. when we do, we should average 100+ pretty easy w/ great defense.

Add the fact that we haven't gelled or grasped Adelman's offense completely and we totally worked a tough spurs team on the boards.

I really was intruiged(sp?) by how Adelman had in Bonzi, Mac, Shane, Yao, and James at one point. I like the looks this lineup gives us. Shane, MJ, and Mac spread the floor. Shane seems to be the PF on defense and Bonzi occupies the PF position on offense. The personel really gives this team the flexibility it didn't have last year. I was equally impressed by how we took complete control of the game with Tracy on the bench in the 4th.

I think we almost lost it tonight, had spurs not give up so many offensive rebound. We have to play wayyyyyyyyy better than this to be successful in the playoff. Trust me, this team you saw tonight isn't half as good as a spurs team in playoff. Period.

I agree that the spurs are a different team in the playoffs. However, this rockets team is nowhere near the finished product. FYI, the spurs didn't hand us rebounds. Part of RA's system puts players in positions where they can go for offensive rebounds. Not that we will get 25 off reb every time we play them, but to put a negative spin on an early season win is very glass half empty of you. We almost lost it. lol. The Jazz almost lost to us in the 1st rd. A win is a win. I will agree that we have to execute better on the offensive end. Defensively, we played very well.

I don't know I just feel like it's an ugly win. And the spurs are listless, like they couldn't have cared more or less. There are still a lot of work to be done. Hopefully we will have a better execution scheme when january comes around. We need to find a flow and we need to find our identity. Right now, I feel like JVG's shadow is on the bench. I do see a few good offense played at the 3rd quater I think.

I understand your concerns. Our identity is still defense in my mind. I think the fact that we are a tad bit more versatile in the ways we can score and the fact that we haven't really mastered Adelman's system, people take it as we have no identity. I heard Barkley say ,during our first game, that we have to find our identity. One misconception is that the way we did things last year was wrong. I believe all we needed to add to last years team was a little more motion on offense and a few guys who could finish. We just needed a way to get easy baskets. Many people thought our identity would change and we would become some sacramento-lite team with no defense.

Our only loss so far was to last years 67 win team. We were close and when our defense faultered, it got out of hand. I still feel defense is our identity. We just have more ways to beat you on the other end. Bonzi and MJ have really made this bench better.

And yes the spurs have jogged in the regular season, but it's not like they don't win 55 plus in the regular season. They do play for HCA also. So you shouldn't put ALL your stock into the regular season, but all signs point to this Rockets team getting better. Don't feel guilty about feeling good after a win against the spurs. I know that we all are cautiously optimistic and for good reason(ten year series slump).

If nothing else, take each rockets win as a confidence boost to our players and one step closer to HCA.

BTW, whenever you play the spurs, it's going to be an ugly game.
