I think McGrady was discouraged from driving after he drove in on the first four possessions or so and didn't get calls. Didn't see him do anything except shoot long jumpers after that. I didn't think Yao could contain Duncan especially on short rest, but he got it done very effectively. I don't think Duncan scored on him once. Then in crunch time he takes it right at Timmy and seals the game. Bonzi was great. Mike James was good, except when we needed him to break the press and he couldn't do it. Now for the Yao vs. Yi circus coming up on Friday! Yi's played pretty well the last two games.
he drove the entire first quarter. but when yao got going, he's relegated to the outside shooting Js. but tmac was off tonight and he recognized that. but man, can we mention yao as one of the best all-around big man as he has more games like this?
I like Bullard's comment on how Yao had enough touches last night but was not aggressive like he was tonight. One thing about Yao he is a quick learner and will continue to improve in this new offensive system.
bonzi's beast! great game, but i didn't like how we handled spurs' pressure defense down the stretch...
yi has potential to be a great player. i never thought that until i saw his last 2 games. he still has work, but he has the potential.
Yao was great in the clutch too, wonderful to finally see that. I just wonder when the TO's will decrease, he picks up TOs on bad passes and mishandled balls, those need to go down, but great game tonight.
It seems very clear to me that Yao should be the main offensive option for this team. And that T-Mac should select his shots a little better. A high number of field goals attempted and a low shooting percentage hurts the team and takes away chances from someone else who might give us a better percentage in that game. I think Yao should concentrate on staying aggresive throughout the whole game and T-Mac to shoot a higher percentage by attacking the rim more and shooting when he`s relatively open. The rest of the squad seems fine, a little too up and down but still fine. The main concern right now is the PG position. I don´t think Alston is working at all. However, this team will only get better and that´s a scary thought for the rest of the league.
I didn't know that Bonzi could get up as high as he did on some of those rebounds. So glad he's with us in adelman's system. I really haven't seen much of the infamous Sacramento King-like offense that the Rockets are supposed to implement as the season goes on except on that one backdoor pass from Yao to Bonzi for the layup. So far it seems to me that we aren't that that different from last year except that we have better players. We run the Tmac pick n roll a lot, feed yao in the low post, and we set up high post but havent seen too many of those easy layups. So it got me thinking about how awesome we would be at the end of the season with the best of what we did tonight with players like those backdoor cuts. It's going to be fun. Props to Bonzi, Yao, James, and Battier especially. And even throw in Rafer for being able to break a press. Good win tonight boys. If only we had beaten the Mavs last night, then ... Ah who cares, we won tonight!
Deja vu? Tmac going cold at home games again this year???? He looked like someone ran over his cat throughout parts of the game.
