The way we willted under the spurs onslaughted was worrying. it shows we have a long way to go. but it's a road that can be travelled with great success. i still believe this tem will accomplish some great things.

Yao was defended very well by the fronting defense. In the 4th q finally they had TD on him I thought rockets should have gone to him easier but they didn't.

In his defense it looked like he slipped a bit and didn't really have his footing when he went up, and Duncan is an excellent shotblocker. I mean, Duncan had 3 jump hooks rejected, when a jump hook is a shot that should be very difficult to block. Shot blocks happen.

In conclusion we can say that the Spurs bench is deep, thanks to Pop giving all his guys playing time. The Rocks bench is collecting dust thanks to JEff Van Dummy not wanting to play rookies. Hey Jeff...you reap what you sew

This is the best post in this thread, cool down and use your heads, I'm not as concerned with SA after watching this game, Phoenix/Dallas scare me more despite the inferior records to be honest. Yao had an off night and the ball (and calls) bounced their way in the 4th. We were up 20 points people, we took our foot off the gas, we lost focus, it was more about us beating ourselves then them beating us...

What happens if Hayes had played? Bonzi Wells? It's not even a game folks...

We are still undoubtably the team to beat in the West, as we were before we entered this game, no question about it. We shoot 38% from the field, 55% from the line, get badly outrebounded 51-36, Yao goes 7-21, 6 boards, and we lose by only 8?!? Should've been 28.

When we get this thing figured out as the season moves on, it's gonna be fun people!!! Be patient...

Rockets got TEN steals to the Spurs 3
Which would lead to 15 Spurs turnovers to just 9 for Rockets
    Rockets 10-23 from 3 pt 43.5%. Spurs 7-13 for 53.8%

    Difference:
Rockets 38.1% from field to the Spurs 48.6%
(The Spurs got 15 more rebounds but since the Rockets got 10 more shots in the game off steals and turnovers and BRICKED MORE, the Spurs got more rebounds)
    Simple as that.

I'm surprised about the result because I didn't watch the 2nd half.
What's wrong with Rockets? Is anything wrong with Yao's leg(Manu's fault)?
I don't understand why we wast the best 1st half.

What happened should not come as a surprise...

Even though we were up 17, there were some ominous signs.

We were letting the Spurs trade buckets at time, hardly playing D.

Yao had 1 rebound. We were being destroyed on the boards.

We were shooting UNDER 50% - 4 for 14 at one point.

We were ahead 17 because we were shooting the lights out. When we went cold, it was a collapse. Build our house on just shooting, and we live and die by it.

Maybe next time we'll not move away from the fundamentals no matter how well we shoot. Hit FT's, Rebound hard, and always tough D.

And this game is just a game. I'd rather us choke now then in May. Let's do one thing though - let's not whine about the coaching, or any particular player...it was a total team failure, but IT'S JUST ONE GAME.

It doesn't really matter how great we thing we are, a smaller guy can not grow into a giant over 1 night, even though he is gonna be one day, but that takes time and tests of some really tough minutes.

When the coach got lost, players got lost and panic. We've got nothing to do with it. What I felt tonight Yao was tired from the 1 minute, T-mac was brilliant the 1 half. He did not handle well at the second half.

The bad game could happen to any great team or super player.

You should count game rhythm and possessions. Rox is a low team and control the game in a low rhythm so it ususally less possessions could our opponents have.

Yes we controled their FG% but that cost more energy in regular times than other teams.

Use the Game Thread stickied at the top to discuss the game (there are very few exceptions to this rule).

For you information, Udrich is no rookie. Robert Horry has been the clutchest veteran for 10+ years.

We got way too over-confident! This is what happpens when we get cocky. Even if I was like, "oh yeah...the spurs got nothin on us." Simply, the Spurs are a better team than us at the moment. Pop straight up outcoached Van Gundy.

Overall, I'm not upset we lost. It's a good lesson learned. We still have alot of work to do. Also, I'm not really liking Luther's backup point guard skills. He had alot of turnovers and was really careless with the ball. He did this in the Miami game as well but it was forgotten after he started hittin his 3 point shot in the fourth quarter. I love Luther, but I see him gone real soon.

People here need a little perspective. Go to Basketball-Reference.com, and search for Duncan's stats. Check out his game logs (to the right of his "Totals") for 2005. I'm not going to even use 2006, since that was an off-YEAR for Duncan, and people can just say "Plantar Fascilitis."

You can find games where Duncan shot 3-11, 4-16, 5-17, 6-21, 7-22, etc. all over the place. In the end, Duncan a good argument could be made that Duncan should have been MVP, and the Spurs were the champions. It happens to the best of players.

Spurs radio doesn't think that this was that big of a game . . .

"come on guys, this was Houston. It's not like we were playing Chicago or Detroit. We (the spurs) were expected to win tonight."

    Chicago . . . Detroit???? WTF?!?!?!?!?

    760 the Ticket.

I hate spurs fans . . . I hate them more than any other teams fans . . . and I hate the team even more. Yeah we lost tonight, we LOST . . . they didn't win. There is just something about the locals in San Antonio that just expect to be better than everyone else. Pisses me off. Some days, i really wonder why i live in San Antonio.

They act like they are STILL the FREAKING defending champs.
