I agree too we couldnt get much flatter in terms of intensity. All Im saying would it have hurt when you have already lost a 19 point lead and are now down 7?

There is a difference between showing passion and whining/overreacting. We're all disappointed that the Rockets blew a huge lead, but to bash Yao like I've seen some people bash him is totally uncalled for. Yao had an off night and our roleplayers could have played better and we certainly missed Chuch Hayes, but we dominated the Spurs for 3 quarters and that is something to be a bit optimistic about. It shows that we have the power to beat the Spurs if only we play a little smarter.

We are the team we think we are... one bad night is expected from time to time. We'll still be a top 5 team in the WC when its all said and done. And just think, Bonzi can't ride the bench forever and Chuck Hayes will be back soon. It was just one bad night guys-relax.

before we win a championship we will need to find 2 things...

    1. another rebounder defender like hayes.

    2. an on ball defender! who can put pressure on the PG!

How about a league leading 88.3 points allowed? How about 9th in opponent's FG%?

Don't worry Johnty, this Patlabor1 dude has a history of antagonizing Yao and whoever is rooting for Yao. He'll disappear the next game when Yao dominates again and reappears when Yao has a bad game....typical.

Frankly I'm kind of sick and up to here with these haters, you can express your opinions but if all you do in your little life is to come here and bash Yao every time he has a bad game, you are pretty pathetic...btw, Yao didn't come correct tonight but he still dropped 20pts on the Spurs, so take that haters!

Shaq wouldn't have missed 2 piont blank layups off offensive rebounds. Shaq would've slammed it home after spinning past Duncan instead of getting blocked. Finess is good and all but afte all theres years Yao still hasn't learned to finish strong.

If you think you are inferior to the Spurs you ARE inferior.

The Rockets should win every game at home...EVERY ONE......at least they should come out like that....

They blew it, they choked, they gave up, they quit competing...which is more maddening than anything else.

This team needs a LEADER....a fiery get in your face competitor, which is why I want to see V-Span getting at least SOME minutes...he energizes the team's major weaknesses...leadership and perimeter defense.

Man tough loss, I live in SA...I lost money on this one....now I have to go to work tomorrow and take shi@t from all the Spur fags I have to work with. Thanks Rox...this team has a long ways to go before they become contenders. The Spurs are just really that good and just as deep as the Rocks this year. Look at the reward Pop is reaping now by being patient and leting Beno Udri play  Look at Fabricio Oberto, the other Argentine, hes a bad ass this year, lucky for the Rocks the refs took him out early. Jef Van Dum@ss blows, he should have done more to take control of the game before it go way out of hand.

That's not just for Yao, it happens for Nash, Bird, and all other non-black players. Casual fans focus their attention on athletism instead of fundamental, which is expected.

Even Shaq doesnt respect Yao's game cuz of the same thing... :p

Probably so though...not sure what to say though. If they like a certain style of ball, can't hold that too too much against them.

The way Shaq finished off his last game shooting 2-10? For a guy who doesn't know how to "finish strong," Yao scores pretty damn efficiently. One off night (everyone has them) does NOT change that.

Total style-over-substance, without any math or logic.

Really? I'm not so sure. I don't see this as a problem of composure or a lack thereof. One of the biggest problems with this team has been their lack of versatility. Specifically, when teams go small on them, the Rockets' offense falters and disappears. DaDakota and others have correctly pointed to their shortcomings at the guard position - specifically on offense. The bottom line is that this team is not yet good enough to force other teams to adjust to what they are doing on the court. For now, as it has been for years now, it is the Rockets who are forced to make the adjustments. Tonight, they failed hence the final score.

Agree completely... but that is not why we lost. The Spurs did not score at will, they only totaled 21 points in the 4th quarter -- average at best. Had we shot even semi-respectably and lost, our perimeter defense would be a more legitimate reason for the loss -- though I personally believe Duncan was a bigger factor than any guard play for the Spurs in the second half. But we simply cannot blame defense for allowing a team that did not get hot in shooting for giving up a 19 point lead. Our inability to score was the prime factor.

Your last sentence sums up the game perfectly.

Just because yao dosent throw the *** slang around and dosent push his opponents away or throw tantroms at the coach, he is'nt respected? this is getting old. this was'nt an issue a week ago or even 2 days ago. now everyone is on his case again for being timid.

i noticed a couple of very "unvan" gundy like reaction/moves

when the spurs went on a 17-0 run he never bothered to call a time out and when they lost the game he did not seem upset at all.

im thinking maybe he wanted the rox to lose this to keep them on there toes.
maybe he thought the team was getting to cocky with yao running over everyone and being unstoppable. maybe im looking too much into it

i still cant belive we blew a 19 point lead with 5 min left in the 3rd qtr. They were crushing us on the boards, and with Yao and Tmac not scoring, we needed Bonzi Wells. Especially after the way he crushed the Spurs on the boards and scored at will. JVG needs to quit being so damn stubborn and give Bonzi minutes. He should be the 3rd scorer, and we needed it tonite.
