This one feels good, better than a blow out. miss some more ft next time, fand need drama. freaking love a steal.
i love the Win. but the offense drought in the 2nd half REALLY REALLY REALLY worries me.. if not our offensive boards...we 'd be dead by the 3rd quarter..
I havenot seen any one metioned here that the chemistry between Yao's high post pass and Bonzi's cut. If I am not miscalculating, there are 3 times. Till now, I think Bonzi is the best one who is cutting into the rim while Yao is doubled or looking for a pass. But when T-mac is on the floor, it appears no one will make the cut. Though, it is supposed to be T-mac. This just looks old.
it makes an amazing difference if your 1 and 2 guards can shoot the jumper well. many times the spurs just set a pick with duncan, and parker or manu would just come off the pick and swoosh. finley has lost his elevation due to age, otherwise it's the same thing. every time i see how easy that play is for the spurs, not only in tonight's game, i'm thinking, "gee, yao has a much bigger frame..." the difference is, the parker's and the manu's can hit a 15-18 footer real good, rafer on our team can't. and when mcgrady is often pressed or doubled outside after a pick, he doesn't have too many choices but to pass. if we had some better shooters, the game will get a lil easier for us. after all, shooting is really the big thing in basketball.
I was thinking of the same thing. What the hell people cheering for the Spurs in the beginning of the game? C'mon, this is our home court-Toyota Center!!!
I enjoy Landry's Shark step after the dunk, he is a spetecular popcorn to watch!!! I do not enjoy the way Rafer is playing today, he sometimes keeps looking for tunnel for himself wasting the shot clock. Amazing to see Yao only has 10 field attempt~ Geneious system for matching up and rotaion by RA, thx to u, coach!!! Scola would think of hidding himself a little bit more during O and try to create more space for him to use, jumper or iso Good to see that Batman is coming back, he hits important 3 for us!!! Also the clutch tips!!!! T-mac is in his effort to become the PLAYmaker instead of becoming one part of the system, a little bit concern for this... Yao DID deliver a couple of great pass to Bonzi and Shane, we need these kind of pass every night!
The most fun I've had in a long time watching a game and in HD! I have relatives in SA who are huge Spurs fans and I was talking to one there just this afternoon about tonight's game. Now I'll be able to talk some trash. PS: What did you all think of the screaming loon from SA? She was bellowing for most of the game. The mad woman does the same thing during games in San Antonio. I sat in front of her about three years ago there and considered either killing myself or bumping her off. Somehow, I controlled myself.
Good stats squared in green. Bad stats squared in red. GUARDS - T-Mac just playing the minutes he did was a huge positive, considering he initially said he wasn't playing. I'm not going to be too hard on him, but you want him to shoot more than ZERO free throws. Almost a half of his shots were threes. - I can't believe both Rafer and Luther took more shots than Yao. NO! Both shot inefficiently, but at least Rafer hit 75% of his threes. Rafer has been turning the ball over a lot more recently. Alston got a huge rebound at the end. - Interesting that Bonzi led the team in +/- and hit 75% of his shots. He didn't play much, so I'm going to guess he's still in pain. - I was looking forward to seeing a Parker vs Brooks matchup. Instead AB was a no-show. Oh well, can't expect a great game every night from a rookie. FORWARDS - Chuck Hayes, MAKE YOUR GOD DAMNED LAYUPS! 8 rebounds is nice, but a -7 +/- stat is uncharacteristic of him. - UGLY shooting game from Scola. Very uncharacteristic for a player that's in the top 5 in FG%. He got a huge rebound in the clutch though. Rockets getting clutch rebounds? Never thought that was possible. - Shane Battier, you need to make your threes. That is your main role on offense, and you failed. CENTERS - Yao is not a 70% FT shooter, so going 7-10 at the line is not good for him. And if you're going to miss FTs, please don't do them at the very end of the game. Other than that, great game. I put his minutes stat in a blue box, because it's a good and bad thing. It's good to know that his stamina has improved to where he can play those type of minutes, but he obviously tired at the end. Huge rebounding game. - Landry made most of his shots, but having the worst +/- probably indicates that he still has a lot to learn on defense.
That's their name. From what I could see their members are not as energetic as the Rowdies. They fit their name. I believe they were sitting in section 126. They did a poor job of being loud for their numbers and I don't remember hearing them after their pre-game Go Spurs Go chant. The home crowd and the Rowdies stepped up. I did my part, and since I was sitting in the first row of my section I made sure to be the first to chant defense when the music started to lead by example for the Rocket fans around and behind me.
I just have this feeling that this game may be the high point of the season. The Rocket's offense still looks woeful. They just seem to be on one or two cylinders. I love Scola's fire, hustle, and rebounds but he can't seem to make baskets. Landry has a future, an exciting young player. Adelman continues to look confused, and so does the team. I want to be excited, but the Rockets were lucky to win this one. They made mistake after mistake in the second half. I can't believe the missed free throws. Be honest, would it surprise you in the least if they lost the next three games? Me neither.
high point? what' with the negatives after a win against the champs? in the nba, every team makes mistakes every night. no one is error-free. it's always the team that makes fewer mistakes wins a game. e.g., spurs are known for their offensive droughts, but that was well offset by their defensive prowess.
We took WAY too long to get into our offensive set. On many possession, we had to force up a horrible shot. I have to agree that with TMac in the game, the offense slows to a crawl. Somehow, we can win like this (similar to last year), but it isn't pretty.
Man when does it start that 7/10 Field Goal percentage for Yao Ming is perceived as BAD ?? I can agree that 7/10 FT% for Big Yao is uncharactericly poor but surely not FG% !!
He missed five in row late in one game against the Mavs in 04/05 1st playoffs that probably cost us the game.
Give credit where it's due. We were playing against the Spur's defense. The Spurs do this to every team that they play.
Yao should be making EVERY SHOT! But no, I forgot to mention it in the "CENTERS" section, the 7-10 FG was in a red box because he should be getting more than 10 shots. I mentioned in the "GUARDS" section that both Head and Alston took more shots than him, which is bad.
And no "green box" around McGrady's 4 assists? And a big "-9" for Landry? This kind of stuff drives me crazy. It just doesn't show the true impact players have in a game. That's why you have to watch the damn games, folks.
Scola definitely needs alot more looks and plays setup for him. There are times when our offense looks stagnant while he's out there because he gets himself in good position, but Rafer never seems to look for him other than to get a pick, or to get himself out of a bad situation. Pound the ball into Scola more and let him prove his post-up game!!! Scola needs to be the third scorer on this team and he is more than capable! He has not been given the chance yet by his teammates. There's been numerous times throughout this season where Scola just finds the ball as the team is scrouching around, and he saves their ass' by making a very impressive post move, sometimes getting around the opponent's best defender doing so. He really needs to be a big go-to person on offense when teams are zooming in on Yao and Tracy. Not only does he have a consistent mid-range jumper, but he is also a good passer and a smart player who deserves the trust. He was are biggest pick-up in the offseason, we really need to use him more effectively!!!
