hotballa are you okay are you feverish or something because even i had to jump up and down after this win and im fan who doesnt look into the moment as many do...but this was a huge win because it builds character and personality to a team. i got an idea for u stop reading espn articles about players and make your own judgement about tmac as u see him play instead of relying on his past...negativity wont get this team anywhere so hush it up
Recap HOUSTON 73, SAN ANTONIO 67 HOUSTON (Ticker) -- This time, Tracy McGrady did not need to pull off a miracle. The San Antonio Spurs made it a little easier on him. McGrady highlighted an ugly affair with 28 points as the Houston Rockets survived a difficult offensive night with a 73-67 victory over the Spurs. San Antonio made just nine shots in the first half and was outrebounded overall, 49-39, in a rematch of a thriller on this court December 9. In that contest, McGrady scored an improbable 13 points in the last 35 seconds, finishing the flurry with a 3-pointer for an 81-80 win. He scored 13 points in the first half of this one to help the Rockets to a 30-28 lead. The combined 58 points matched the fourth-lowest first half in the shot clock era. The Spurs were held without a basket over the final 9:19 of the second quarter and went 6:48 of the fourth period without a point. During that second slump, the Rockets scored just eight points and needed a jumper by McGrady to reclaim the lead, 58-57, with 4:09 left. McGrady scored 10 points in the fourth quarter, providing the dagger with a 3-pointer in the final minute that gave Houston a 69-61 lead. Dikembe Mutombo had a season-high 15 rebounds in just 20 minutes off the bench and teamed with fellow 7-footer Yao Ming to limit superstar Tim Duncan. Yao scored 13 points and helped hold Duncan to 18 on 7-of-19 shooting. Duncan is 14-of-31 vs. Houston this season. Tony Parker provided the lone spark for San Antonio with 12 of his 21 points in the third quarter, when the Spurs gained a 50-48 lead.
I have expressed that same concern several times in this forum. Ming can break out and do his thing once he really decides to, it appears TMac has. Also, the flu is hard to get over and the meds used to treat it have lingering side effects. That has got to be at least some of the reason for Ming's relative ineffectiveness. In addition Ming can't buy a call, it is really ridiculous.
The key for the game was the D on Duncan. After he hit 3-4 shots in a row, he was basically totally taken out of the game on the offensive end by the effective double team by the Rockets. TD even had several miserable TOs that led to quick Rockets baksets.
My opinion of MeMac is based on the games I've watched him before he was a Rocket. ESPN is garbage, and I hate them to no end.
honestly hotballa do you believe that the roster tmac played with in orlando could have done any better and what differently should he do here that you see is not right, because he is the most unselfish superstar i have ever seen next to hakeem
If your opinion is based on him before he was a Rocket why are you criticizing him RIGHT NOW when he's averaging almost 6 assists per game?
Apparently the Orlando Magic didn't think that roster would have played differently with or without him since they tore it to shreds. Yet people are trying to blame Tracy McGrady for that fiasco. Nobody blamed Francis a couple of years ago when the Rockets only had 28 wins with a crappy roster.
Everybody understands that you’ve had this low opinion of him for a while. But what I don’t understand is the timing. The Rockets are playing their best basketball all season. They’ve won 4 in a row LED BY Mcgrady. So why would you choose NOW to start this tirade against Mcgrady?
Exactly. The Rockets just got a big win against one of their biggest rivals and the team with the 2nd best record in the league and the favorite to win the NBA title and hotballa takes the time to rip McGrady because Orlando sucked LAST year. Think about that.
haters will always be haters and hes just a negative person he needs to stop hatin the playa and start hatin the game b/c hotballa is just making himself look like a loser. GET SOME!!!!
TMac is awesome! He is not selfish (check out the assist to Sura for the three), he has great court vision, he is a great decision maker, plays excellent defense, is playing hurt with energy, and "wills" wins. You can't ask much more. Also, this team is becoming "gutsy," and I like it.
Hey, I can say the majority are now satisfied with the way we've been playing.. at the beginning of the season it was the other way around.
I missed the game but I heard Yao put a "crushing screen" on someone to free up McGrady for the clinching 3 pointer. Was it as good of a screen as Jim Foley described it?
Time to root for some teams around us to lose (Clippers, Lakers, etc.) and have to deal with Memphis Monday.
