Its frustrating, because you can't have guys shootign 35% and taking that many shots, you WILL win once in a while, but no way is that anywhere near tyhe formula for success
This game is an enigma because the Rockets and Spurs always have low scoring, defensive games. The Rockets had been putting up big points over the last few weeks and San Antonio isn't that bad offensively.
I have to say that the more I watch Yao play, the more I think his problems are caused by poor officiating, he gets zero calls on the defensive end. Guys are jumping into him left and right and he gets called all the time for the foul, and on offense he has 2 hands in his back all game. Yao has to learn how to work the refs, cause his career is waning because of them. DD
The formula today was hold the Spurs down on defense as much as possible (almost to the point to where you had no energy for anything else)... and take what the defense gives you. Nobody is going to dominate this Spurs defense... they have no weakness.
Hakeem used to have some of those problems, though not as bad as Yao. Remember back in 1997 or 1998 when Hakeem dropped 40 on Denver and didn't go to the line once? I don't know what it is with Rockets centers not getting calls.
That was a huge huge win. So lets see...we beat the Mavs playing their style of ball and then beat the Spurs with their style of ball. Good to know we can win shootouts or grind it out in a defensive game.
Hope winning games will help. The more you win, the more respect you will get, the more confident Yao will be, the more exposure for the Rockets, and hopefully the more pressure will be on the refs, and as a final result, the more reasonable they will become.
At a certain point in your career, you need to start realizing your strengths and weaknesses. MeMac is great at getting himself open for the jumper, but if you're shooting at a certain clip, maybe it's time to do something else. had any of the other Spurs shown up besides Duncan and Parker, we woulda been blown out. A win is a win, but stuff like this cant be a healthy trend
One thing I am very happy is that Yao got Ginobili out in the middle of the game. Keep this going, Yao. Pretty soon there will be nobody try to drew foul form you!
T-Mac is a cold-blooded assassin! Everytime he pulls up for a shot I bet Spurs fans roll into a fetal position and prey that he misses.
