Yah well, the key point is that he is getting playing time. How can he put up stats like that, when on the bench? He was a #2 pick for a reason...
I think the forums were down last night, so R2k might have gone to sleep instead of waiting for it to go back up.
Why do you people keep hating on Patrick Ewing? He's an assistant coach with your Houston Rockets. I don't get the negativity. He was a warrior on the court, so I don't see how he could have a negative effect on Yao. If anything he has improved Yao's agressiveness. Nobody complained when Thibodeau was looking for another job
Funny Bill Worrellisms from last nights game: Referring to Skip to my lou's ability to bring the ball up the court: "Alston can really get it up fast!" Referring to Ryan Bowen's ability to always be near the ball: "Ryan gets his hands on a lot of balls!" Bill always seems to say a few of these per game. I chug a beer when it happens.
...Bullard was laughing so hard at one Worrellism from the San Antonio game, regarding Head, that Bill snapped to it 5 seconds later and laughed at himself. This is the only entertainment value Bill & Bull bring to the table.
I'm sure R2K won't mind me posting the highlight clip. http://bbs.heypartner.com/videos/SonicsHighlights_101705.torrent He probably just didn't get a chance to post it here because the board was down.
the highlights are ALWAYS posted at smeggy smeg's forum. Look for them there under The DUde's Gallery. p.s there are 19 seeds im connect to atm, and I'm also going to seed.
He's another ex:Knick and you know how many people feel about ex:Knicks & JVG. Also in the 1994 Finals, Ewing vs. Dream was the marque matchup that was touted by the media. Thirdly, Ewing called Houston a "hellhole" during that series. Some natives here hold that against him. Lastly, no one seems to give him any credit for helping to develop Yao, which (I think) was the main reason he was brought here.
I am more concerned that Alston only had 2 assists in 31 minutes. . altho, JB and Head sure did their job...
Yawn. Sloppy game. Not much to say except Gundy pulled Luther Head to the bench when he had a couple turnovers in the 4th, then sent him back in as SG, which paid off down the strech. Some tough love right there. I think it will be hard(if not impossible) for Seattle for replicate last year's success.
Luther Head looked much more comfortable out there running the offense. Maybe it was because it wasn't the San Antonio defense. His outside shot looked very good, and he can get to the rim at will. He poked the ball away from his counterpart a couple times. He looks to be a tenacious defender. I thought he had an excellent game. He'll only improve with more minutes. Swift had some good passes, I didn't think that was part of his game. His jumper doesn't look that reliable, and he was out of position for rebounds. He also held the ball too long once he got it in the post a few times. He turned the ball over on the break trying a behind-the-back dribble. Who does he think he is, Yao Ming? There's going to be a lot of highlights of Stromile spinning around his defender or going back-door for an alley-oop dunk this year. He got a lot of FT attempts because of his aggressiveness. Ryan Bowen and Stromile looked to have pretty good chemistry together. With two fast-break dunks and a monster block on Reggie Evans, RyBo looked like a white Stromile Swift out there. Derek Anderson looks like he's fitting in well. His outside shot looks very accurate. I think he drove the ball well a few times. The one thing I found most encouraging this game is they REALLY pushed the ball up-court, hard. Not just when Alston was in the game either, Barry and Head were rushing the ball upcourt too. They were looking to outlet the ball ahead of the defense at every opportunity.
