Alston doesn't seem to notice his FG% is among the lowest on the court...he think he's Steve Nash or something.....
I didn't think he even had the Bball IQ to get 17 shots, much less make 11 of them. 26pts is 26pts. On an avg day, he is not giving you that, even if they went 5x overtime and scored 200.
10 days ago I thought was the end of our season... oh my how things turned around. It's good that this is a soft part of the schedule but a win is a win. 2007 NBA CHAMPS HERE WE COME
THe entire NBA has gone point crazy today, only four teams so far (with finished games) have missed the 100 point mark, and Utah has 98, Sonics 96, Miami with 95. Phily is the one left out with only 87 points today Do you guys think that T-Mac will be able to continue his streak of 30+ points or go back to about 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists?
I thought Dream and Sleepy were the only ones to ever do that. I don't remember Dream and Glide both going off for 40.
These point totals were normal just 10 years ago. I wish it would go back to the 130-126 affairs of the 70's and early 80's.
My guess is that he'll go back to scoring less when Yao comes back. Tracy is first option right now, thus, scores more points. That'll change with Yao as first option. That is nothing to worry about though... it's a good thing. Having two guys that can be the man is okay, especially when they have respect for one another like 111 do.
I think TMac's scoring will go down 4-5 points per game when Yao comes back. I also believe this is a good thing. Yao can save some on on some plays where he doesn't have to fight for position in the post, instead just do pick n roll with TMac and spot up for a 15 jumper on top of the key. Sometimes I think Yao posts up too much - almost every play. Changing it up more, it takes a lot of energy fighting for position in the post. Besides, Yao should shoot a few high percentage from 15-17 ft away facing the basket. No defender to going to come out to defend him during pick n rolls with TMac driving to the basket.
Well if Tmac keeps playing this good then yes he'll continue to score in high 20s and/or in 30s but thats only without Yao on the court. With Yao on the court and Tmac continues to play like this, his scoring will go down by few pts only cuz he won't attempt as many shots with Yao's presence. With both of them healthy it will be like having AI and Melo in the same line-up
Fran Blinebury says that Bonzi will visit the guy in Waco. Nobody posted this. It's about how Howard loves JVG. http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2007/01/juwan_the_young_guns_and_novak.html Give me back my power Clutch!
First, pick and roll with Yao and TMac WAS one of their primary options when both were healthy. It was one of their most efficient sets. Second, when they ran the PNR with Yao, he generally rolled to the basket. He didn't spot up for the simple reason that Yao's spot up 15-foot jumper is not nearly as effective as his jump hook from 5 feet. Lastly, Yao LOVES to post up like most big men. For them, it is the equivalent of the clear out for a penetrator. Getting position in the block as well as he does now, he is virtually unstopable when healthy. There is very little reason to put distance between him and the basket when he can post up so effectively with the exception of the PNR, which is very effective, usually moreso for the guard than for Yao.
Not sure what you guys want him to do. If you are open, you have to shoot it. If you don't the defense collapses on your interior players. He is in a slump and struggling, no question, but just ignoring a wide open shot or choosing to not break down the defense when he can is counterproductive. Also, outside of TMac, there is no more efficient ballhandler on the team. JLIII is getting better, but I don't trust VSpan or Head to manage the game when TMac doesn't have the ball.
I want him to only shoot uncontested jumpers. The wild runners and teardrops have to stop. Instead of leaving his feet and hoping something good happens, he should stay on the ground to (1) finish a layup, (2) pass out to someone open or (3) dribble through the lane and comb back out. This is what Nash does so effectively. Rafer's offense has been falling apart ever since the Golden State game. The next time he throws up a contested runner with Luther or Shane parked at the 3 point line should result in a $10,000 fine. I also want him to stop the loopy possessions where he seems out of sync with everyone else on offense. It's like a goa'uld takes over momentarily.
Or, when his shot is not falling, take the pass and drive into the lane for contact or in order to pass it out to another open shooter. DD
Rockets need to trade for Diener already. Diener will be good for 15 minutes of floor time each night. A less fatigued Rafer, is a better playing Rafer. Lucas and Span just aren't getting it done now. It's win now, not later.
