G-League has stronger, more mature athletes who are individually better than college players. Amen was in a league of 16-20 year olds, which is a step up from high school, but a lower tier than college or the G-League.

 

I’m usually very patient and think Ime will do the right thing, but having Tate guard Maxey and giving Holiday 15 minutes was a really bad decision. I get that these guys, Amen and Cam, need to earn their minutes, but why not give them a shot at guarding Maxey. Amen may let him get by, but he is really good at catching up. Holiday should be player 10-12 in the Rockets rotation. People, especially Hollins, slurp all over his defense. Hustling and being demonstrative does not make a good defensive player. Both Tate and Holliday suck.

 

Amen's quickness would have matched up better on defense. We need Tate on this team. We just don't need Tate starting or playing more than 10 minutes. The same with Holiday, I need him shooting threes not thinking he is CP3.

Ime might think all rookies are dumb to quote B.O.B, they know nothing.

 

Agreed, except the we need Tate on this team. If you are going to keep Amen and Cam on very limited minutes, then they should bundle Tate, fillers or Landale, and picks for a legit backup center or a vet SG like Brogdon. When Brooks gets back, Tate should rarely enter the game.

 

Coaches determine playing time from the work they put in at practice also. So maybe Ime compared to Amen isn't seeing what he likes in practice to try him minutes. Or it could simply just be that Stone is making sure the 4th overall pick is getting some playing time regardless of actual play between Amen and Cam.

But it does seem Cam is much better suited for minutes now just on the basis that he can't be left wide open like defenses do with Amen.

You can't have Tate and Amen on the court at the same time.

 

Cam hit his shots against the Suns but he was a trainwreck on the defensive end. I don't really blame Ime for not playing Cam yesterday.

 

This should be the line up Monday.

Get on the phone, Stone. If Coach doesn't trust rookies, then find him a young vet that's reliable 25 minutes a night.

 

Yes they are. And a lot of times when players don’t play it isn’t apparent to fans. Details type things like not learning offense, not executing right plays in practice, poor help defense, effort etc.

I thought he should have at least been in the last play for shooting instead of Tate but I understand why he was in there. I’m not a professional coach.

maybe another 'ms jones' has been hooking him up lately, it seems he simply can't focus on making right decisions.

 

I’m ok with that if we don’t play ourselves out of contention for the playoffs before the deadline. A lot depends on how long we are missing Jarbari and Brooks. Our second unit may be the worst in the league when they are not available.

 

I am not sure it was confirmed that he was addicted to being with someone's wife but was just a one time thingy.

to be fair, even Udoka said he thinks there was a window to shoot it before the pick but i havent rewatched it yet. seems like jalen actually went through his progressions correctly, and for someone who has struggled so mightily with "IQ" im pleased even in the loss.

that being said i woulda preferred the mamba mentality of im shooting it, not anyone else. but cant fault him for buying in to the team structure thats been getting drilled into him all year.

 

same question popped up when i watched that seemingly well-designed last play…there must be someone sucks at math below:
