ppl started to worry if Yao comes back, would our offense be this smooth.
    ppl think too much!
I agree we have a good team. But don't be overwhelmed with blowouts on sub .500 teams. When we play Dallas, Spurs, Suns, or even the Lakers, Yao and Tmac would make a huge difference. Remember Tmac Yao screen that almost killed Dallas 2 years ago? Tmac's pass is smooth, but Chuck isnt' able to finish it off as smooth as Yao does. We'd probably be thinking how to destroy sub .500 teams when Yao comes back, and how to deal with the elite teams when both of them are playing at top level

Jeff's trying to show who's in charge. He put Bonzi in the game to tell Span, Yo, look, that guy was getting 7M/yr contract offers and he's playing in garbage minutes. So better be quite and earn your way to start for garbage time

I would love to see snyder get more minutes pencilled in as the back up SF behind battier his size and athleticism could be very useful

Van Gundy played only reserves in the fourth quarter, but the hapless Sixers got no closer than 20 the rest of the way. Van Gundy was still incensed that the Sixers outscored the Rockets 33-16 in the final 12 minutes

"The fourth quarter is totally unacceptable," he said. "That's why I never want to hear somebody else tell me they want to play more."

    .............

"I never want to hear somebody else tell me they want to play more." ???

    Rookies?? VSpan???

You're seeing hypocrisy where it doesn't exist. Spanoulis complained about playing time to the public. Players shouldn't do that. It's the coach's job to tell the players how they are supposed to conduct themselves and do their job. NOT vice versa.

Just wanted to thank you for putting this up in the post-game analysis thread.

One thing I always observe in these press conferences is that JVG doesn't even say "bye" or anything to the journalists...he answers the questions because he has to, but acts like he is getting some teeth pulled...usually avoids looking at people's eyes...and then when it's over, he just gets up without a word and storms out. Weird.

That being said, what he said about the fourth quarter was right, but he should have left out the snipe at VSpan - as DD said, that was small of him.

The Chinese have a saying, "travel with thy better, else travel alone." There is absolutely no way a developing player can be expected to grow nor succeed in a squad that had only reserves. Look at what JVG tried to work with during the last quarter, Novak, Span, Bonzi, Hayes, Lucas, and Padgett which can be translated as a one-dimensional rookie, an import fresh from Europe, a fat, short, post up player, an undersized center, a super midget SG, and a career scrub. 3 of those players barely get to see the floor. And how many times has it been that they've even played together in an actual game? I know that the Sixers are a bad team, but I don't think anybody can expect to take what JVG brought out in the 4th qtr. and still expect to perform well. Madness.

I'm beginning to think that JVG played V-Span just to say the things he said during the post-game interview. This aspect of JVG is just gay and why I just can't get into the JVG bandwagon, for all the success we've had so far.

I think V-Span can still be our PG of the future, the dude has a bright future ahead of him. He's too good of a player not to.

You're reading too much into this. You also have an irrational fixation on a second round rookie who is turnover prone and can't shoot. The "underhanded" comments are irrelevant. A bad player on a winning team who whines to the press and accepts no responsibility for his own performance is not going to get off an NBA bench, nor should he.

I would like to find out the context of this quote:

"I don't want to speak more about this, nothing," Spanoulis said. "It's the decision of the coach how much I will play. I respect that and will keep working. OK, he knows better than everybody."

    can't imagine when Yao's back

I had a feeling that when Yao's back, he will perform like he did last time he came out from injury.

I don't disagree with your point, but I find it very small of the coach to mention it in the press conference.

How can you, on one hand, tell the player that going to the press is bad, and then on the other, go to the press yourself?

It is hypicritical, to say the least.

But, again I stand by my statement that the reason the deep bench sucked tonight was that none of them get any time on the court all year....so what does everyone expect?

Agreed, but the coach should not do it IN THE PRESS !!!

Do you see the hypocrisy there?

Sometimes, you just got to show who the boss is. I thought JVG did the right thing tonight. Puts Vspan into his place. He has potential, but unless he pulls himself together and actually produce results, he should just stay quiet.

What a bunch of hooey......and a reason that it is a players league...the coach does not get a free pass...it is a league of men, not kids.

They are all adults and can be held accountable for their actions.

You can still be a classy boss !

let's apply this situation to the real world. Let's say a sales rep. A inside sales rep who had a desk job gets promoted to an outside job. The manager of the team doesn't give him anything big to work on because he's a rook. When he's been given tiny projects to do he's done bad and showed that he wasn't comfortable in his new job. The rook complains to all of his buddies in inside sales that "well I was one of the guys that got the good work here" and complains about his role in his higher up position. He This pisses off the people who are established in outside sales, because they had to pay there dues and the new guy who came from a totally different job is b****ing. They say who the hell does this guy think he is? The boss then goes out and indirectly complains to his advisers about the disgruntled new employee. The veteran outside sales people think the new guy is a complainer and he loses their respect.
