    This is my issue with fast paced offense. Dead legs and too tired to play defense.

    They saved money on coaching, so in the end, the collapse in defensive competence was worth it.

    Morey doesn't seem to learn from his mistakes. We started last year with no defense then we hired Bzdelik. Here we are again starting the year without a defensive coach :rolleyes:

    Conversely, if you play defense then you are too tired too play offense.

    You have to pick a poison.

    I wouldn’t be too excited. He’s playing a high school level defense right now.

    let’s see how he does against NBA caliber defenders

    Against the Spurs and Thunder he was a combined 16/34 from the field and is shooting 47% overall.

    Respect the first legit Black Asian player in the league.

    I mean this sounds good in theory, but doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

    Last year the Bucks were 5th in pace and first in defense. Thunder were 4th in defense and 6th in pace. Golden State basically top 10 in both every year of their dynasty.

    The pace isn't an excuse for the crappy defense the Rockets play.

    The idea is to let the Wizards keep scoring so that they get tired by the 4th quarter.

    I'm telling you, the Rockets play defense for only one quarter per game.

    Game 1: Allowed only 23 pts in 1st qt.
    Game 2: Allowed only 23 pts in 4th qt.
    Game 3: Allowed only 18 pts in 3rd qt.
    Game 4:. I'm guessing it will be 3rd qt.

    It's a wild strategy.

    Well yeah, they have bad players now so what's the point of talking about them?

    The point is that playing with pace doesn't mean you have to be god awful on defense. The Rockets effort level on defense has no excuse.

    We are an absolute mess defensively. No way we go anywhere in playoffs without drastic changes.
