Just come out and say you're in it for the thrill of watching the Rockets win what amounts to a preseason game. Trying to say a weaker draft position is as good as a higher one is just a failure of common sense.

    a) No one ever said this lottery was going to save the Rockets' franchise.
    b) No one ever said there were any guarantees.

Yes, some times the player taken at #8 proves to be better than the player taken at #6, but that's after teams have decided what selection to make. Whether you trade the pick or plan to use it, #6 has more value than #8 every single time for the plainly obvious fact that you have 2 more players from which to choose.

Golden State simply outsmarted Houston tonight. A loss tonight was so important ... the Warriors are now 5 seeds ahead of the Rockets and have over 6 times better of a chance to get the #1 pick than Houston. I'd be willing to bet GSW and MIN lock #6 and #7 up.

You're basing this on one or two games? Yao averages 2.5 TOs per game. That's certainly not unexpected given 1) he's double-teamed most of the time, 2) he touches the ball more than any other players and 3) he's hacked consistently by those double-teams. Yao's TO rate is far less than the career game averages of either Tim Duncan or Shaq so it's hardly a problem.

With the kings win tonight, the rockets has officially eliminated from the playoffs.

Now, i will agree with the tanking.....

Notes to JVG, now the remaining games are meaningless, please play swift more minutes to see what he really got. It may raise his trade value. Also, more minutes for young players like head, lampe, bogans etc.

Wow, I didn't know Bogans went scoreless..
Looks like everyone had a mediocre night except Luther, Yao, and Rafer.

I found this on Yahoo. It's another depressing column about this years season, if anyone cares:

    4. The rare pairing of Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady

Yes, good teams have to come up with ways to replace injured players, but it's not always possible, particularly when a team is built around two superstars, as Houston is. Swingman McGrady has missed 24 games and center Yao has missed 19; the Rockets, headed for the lottery, are almost hopeless without either one and formidable when both are playing. Who knows how good they would've been with both.

Between 1/30 and 3/21, Yao had only 3 games out of 25 in which he had at least 4 turnovers. But since then, in 6 out of 8 games he's had at least 4 turnovers. Obviously, this is a problem he needs to work on.

If you define turnover rate as ratio of turnovers to total possessions used (via shot attempts, assists, and turnovers), then Yao is having a career best season. Comparison between Yao, Duncan, and Shaq in turnover-rate:

    Code:
    	Yao	Shaq	Duncan
    1993 14.8
    1994 9.3
    1995 8.5
    1996 9.9
    1997 9.7
    1998 9.9	13.9
    1999 9.1	11.5
    2000 8.7	12.0
    2001 9.3	11.1
    2002 8.9	11.0
    2003	13.5	10.1	11.1
    2004	13.2	11.9	10.0
    2005	13.5	11.1	8.2
    2006	10.8	12.9	10.5

Truly pathetic when you guys find a way to bash Yao...he is the one true Brigh spots of the season and some of you are still trying to b**** about something in his game...The guy played out of his mind the 2nd half and still there aer some of you punks out there trying to blame him..why dont' you actually watch the rockets and then make your comments instead of just pulling something out of your %ss to post on here....you obviously don't watch the games to see his double and tripled teamed out there...he can't rely on his guards to shoot so obvioulsy he will have a few turnovers....but thats becasue of the crap the rockets wanted to surround him with..ie role players....so until you learn anything about bball or watch a rockets game, just stfu.......

Yao hasn't done a good job taking care of the ball the last several games. It's obvious. Yes, overall he's played well since the all-star break, but his efficiency has declined of late because of the turnovers. That's simply a fact, whether you watch the games or not. If he can go a month, seeing all kinds of defenses, without turning the ball over much, why all of a sudden the rash of turnovers now? It all has to do with court awareness and decisiveness, both of which he needs to improve.

In the first quarter against GS, Yao was playing like he was on drugs or something. By the end of the game, he got into a rhythm and got some decent numbers but I don't consider it a particularly good game by him (and I hope he wouldn't either). My standards for Yao have gone up considerably the past few months because of how he's been able to elevate his game, and when he's not meeting them I'll say so.

Yao had a great game. Without Yao the Rockets lose this one. I have no problems with those turn overs, Yao's numbers make up for them by plenty.

Chill out. I don't see anyone bash Yao in this thread. If your post is directed at durvasa, even he said this at the end of his post:

"If you define turnover rate as ratio of turnovers to total possessions used (via shot attempts, assists, and turnovers), then Yao is having a career best season. Comparison between Yao, Duncan, and Shaq in turnover-rate"

We have been talking relentlessly about how good Yao has become lately. There are daily new threads about Yao's new career high numbers and how dominating he is on the court. Please also let some other posters discuss the one area of his game that Yao still needs to improve on. Yao is still not perfect afterall, at least he can't cure cancer yet, agree? :)

I think you should instead use your energy to straighten out the idiots like Aries_Tim who is trying very hard to talk trash in order to gain attention.

True...I agree....my bad....I just have so many other things to geet frustrated about with the Rockets and Yao's turnovers are not one of them..I agree he needs to lessen those turnovers but I think those will go away once the triple teams go away next season and he starts to get more calls from the refs...I 'm just tried and frustrated..I didn't mean to lash out at anyone....I used to be all over Yao earlier in the year about his turn overs and aggressiveness but with his recent play since the allstar I have been more forgiving since he has picked up other parts of his game...Anyways..are tehre any good outside shooters in the free agent market this summer besdies Peja S....imagine having him...I guesws we can' twith the money we have under the cap....I think we need at least 2 good shooters and maybe we can get Reddick...then another Power Forward and a bakc up center....it sucks to be talking about the draft already instead of thhe playoffs....
