ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Warriors 4/28/2025 (Playoffs Round 1, Game 4)

I think that's why this feels so bad. I truly believe we are a more talented team overall than the Warriors. Every single game has been winnable, but we just keep shooting ourselves in the foot. We are losing the games because of our mental and strategy. The missed free throws, the dumb fouls, the missed bunnies -- all mental. It's hard to say whether it's inexperience or coaching, maybe a mix of both.

 

Yeah, I thought it weird to double Steph and Dray's since they were there together. If the other way makes sense, fine! Regardless, it's ridiculous.

 

Losing to the Warriors on a loop. Seeing the mouths of Buddy Hield and Draymond Green in a waking nightmare. Being forced to watch Curry hit shot after shot and arrogantly strut up the court without consequence. What did we do to deserve this?

 

Yeah, that's the part of this that sucks moreso than just getting bounced in the first or second round, which I expected.

If we have to get beat I wish we were at least getting beat by any other team (except the Lakers, that would be almost as bad)

 

Randomly thinking of 3 situations that should have led to the victory. FVV not standing on the Ft line to shoot the technical.(1point) The continuation shot that the refs did not allow (an extra point or a rebound putback by Aquaman for 2 pts)
on a made Sengun basket, he is pushed out of bounds, falls down which leads to a 5 on 4 with Hield getting a layup.

 

Thinking a lot about that last play run for Sengun. Adams, FVV, Smith and Brooks. Why not use Adams for a screen at the top of the arc?

It would have done two things, forced Draymond to switch and would have gotten Sengun rolling at the rim with not as strong or taller defender.

Or give the opportunity for Sengun to set the pick and roll for Fred and have Fred either hit the roll or go attack the switch?

Not using Adams in that last play was really dumb.


Ps: Draymond just needs to calm down as well. Sengun actually had a fairly good look of that shot but just missed.

 

reasons why rockets lost any of the 3 games so far:
- refs let that donkey do whatever the **** he wanted.
- ime didn't respond to any of that.

 

We played Sengun last play with Adams packed the paint.

Stupid.

 

Ime still do not show me any fresh stuff on his coaching in playoffs.

Extra annoying to play good enough to win and just have too many self inflicted issues that effectively ends the season. The free throws are one thing, but the stupidity of Brooks to foul a crippled Jimmy Butler on a desperation 3 was asinine. This is exactly the type of **** I didn't want when we signed him - he pulls this **** all the time and hasn't gotten better at those bonehead plays. Glad he improved his shooting, but he needs to be benched next year.

Do you not remember Giddey getting completely exposed last playoffs? We desperately need shooting on this team, so I'll pass on him.

What was Jalen Green’s post game comments after his performance in Game 4? I didn’t find any.

 

My two hatest players in the world are Draymond and Podziemski. Why did we have to lose to these guys?!

 

I expect the Rockets to win the next one but lose in game 6 at GS.

 

I agree that it was a dumb decision by Brooks to have his off hand on Butler’s chest before Butler entered his shooting motion. That said, NBA refs are a joke and pick and choose what they want to call. The game was played very physically by both teams, and they call that on a pivotal possession? Draymond Green tried to knock Amen Thompson out on a dirty, illegal screen in the first half and that didn’t get called. However, Dillon Brooks putting his off hand on Jimmy Butler’s chest as Butler shoots a three is worthy of three shots late in the fourth quarter of a tie game? There is no consistency.

Also, how should players defend in today’s NBA? Offensive players can barrel into defenders and create all the contact and get the call. They can extend their arms to push off (see SGA) and create separation. Defenders have to be allowed to play, too.

I disagree. This team cannot shoot. They have one of the worst FT percentage. They don't have an offense scheme. These are problems of the whole season. The warriors and Udoka made it worse in playoffs. It is about skills, habits, and game plan. Nor mental.

 

Draymonds going into the HOF because he’s had a career full of moments where his opponents seem to have “just missed.”
