his rebounding was ONE of the differences and reasons we won, definitely not the only factor. You know this is a 5 on 5 game right son?

I don't think Ezeki attempted one shot. That was a good move, but within 2 plays, Bogut was back in so obviously Jackson made a smart counter move.

Lin always looks tired, even if it's only 5 minutes into the game. I think it's just his style. ;)

Unorthodox win in a huge game. Very proud of this team. McHale deserves some credit.

Harden slipping on d is like normal bro. Others cover up for him

Rockets couldn't score in the 2nd quarter but came back when GS went cold to end the quarter up by 2. Both teams didn't score a point for the first four or five minutes of the 3rd. Was a game of runs and droughts.

Great win in playoff intensity game. Thankfully Parsons was hot. Asik was tremendous on the boards and JLin hit some clutch free throws. Harden is obviously hurting and needs some rest but still had 11 assists. Hopefully he'll recover by the playoffs.

McHale just needs to play his starters 30+ minutes per game (and close out the 4th Q) to make the playoffs. However that may be too much to ask for given his track record.

Fantastic win by the Rockets, and I think McHale did a great job.

Wow, the Rockets shoot 36% and get out-rebounded and they win. The Rockets won the game because of three point shooting, free throw shooting, and they played some defense.

Harden and Lin didn't shoot well, but they got to the foul line, rebounded, and dished out some assists. Asik played great with 17 rebounds.

Parsons just keeps getting better. Morey is looking to acquire another superstar, but Parsons is starting to look like a superstar.

Outside of Asik and Parsons everyone was pretty brutal but a win is a win. Especially in a key game like this

yup...one of the reasons why I am not yet into Harden a " superstar" because of his sub-par D..But let's give him credit for tonight's game..He was trying and I love seeing that from him..he was contesting shots..that is all that matters..

If he keeps this up, it might give JLin a little bit of rest on the Defensive end because he won't cover for 2 opponent guards anymore....sometimes Lin pays the price because he had greater mismatch on the opposing SG ( height ) ...We can't let Parson's rotate on his man consistently because Parson's hands are already full in defending the SF positions..

    And so, when Harden Defends, more or less we have a 80% chance of winning a game because;

    1. We have an excellent defender at 1
    ( we have a nil defender at 2 )
    2. We have great defender at 3
    ( we have a negligible defender at 4 )
    3. we have an excellent defender at 5

If Harden more or less make an effort on his D, all our positions will be much more covered ( aside form 4..waiting for TRob to evolve ). Jlin will stop over-helping too much and could conserve his energy for the Offensive end...

Props were given if you had tried to read through the posts although I don't know why props should be given for something that a coach with common sense would do. It's like giving props for passing the ball to an open man. It is expected.

Agreed. A lot of posters say we are "overachieving" because of McHale. I think our record would be better if we had almost any other experienced NBA coach. Hell all he has to do is play his starters and he can't even do that half the time.

He's got them one game out of the 6th seed. Nobody predicted that. McHale's done a good job coaching the team this year.

They would definitely be in 6th now with another coach. He gave away 2 games against Dallas (1 at home) by not playing Asik and Lin in the 4th Q. That's just against Dallas but there were other close games we lost because of not playing starters in crunch time.

    That's ridiculous.

We can just as easily assume that if we had a coach who was more determined to play every starter for lots of minutes, we'd have lost a starter or two to injuries and lost just as many or more games as a result.

That's impossible to predict but I disagree. Are there coaches better then McHale, of course, but he's done a solid job and will likely get votes for COTY. He's getting career years out of Harden, Parsons and Asik. Obviously, the players have a lot to do with it but you can't just ignore that coaching also plays a role. You could take any coach in the league and nitpick mistakes that cost them games. I'm certainly not saying I always agree with his substitution patterns but the body of work speaks for itself.
