Yao, Tmac and head play well tonight. :)
And my favorite Flying Bowen and David Wesley , both hustling guy, play very well :D . We need those guys to step up.
Bowen played a nice pair with Yao. And Wesley did well in PG with his speed advantage. How could we think someday he could play PG with 4 other PGs in our team.(sorry, 3 of them got hurted ;) )

why so many people hate DW just because of a few mistake at the end of the game??? Without him, we won't even be there. He was 6/12FG, 4/8 3pointers for 19 points, 6reb and 6 ast tonight.

    [12.15.05] Rockets-Warriors Game Recap

Rockets’ Unfazed By Warriors’ 3-point Blitz; Pound Golden State 111-105 in OT

    By Dennis L. Silva, II.
    12.15.05

It’s back. That resiliency and quite competitiveness of last year’s Houston Rockets has returned and infected the team. Despite putting on a shooting display that would have even made Larry Bird blush, the Warriors could not counter Houston’s physicality and patience on both ends of the floor. Led by their superhero duo of Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming, with a special cameo by rookie Luther Head, the Rockets outlasted Golden State 111-105 in an overtime beauty at The Arena in Oakland.

The Warriors’ Baron Davis, fresh off hitting a game-winning 3-pointer against Seattle the previous night, started the game in similar fashion, scoring the Warriors’ first nine points in helping Golden State to a 14-13 early first quarter lead. But the Yao went to work, scoring eight easy points inside, and David Wesley hit the first of his four 3-pointers to spear a 24-18 Houston lead going into the second period. Golden State, despite Davis’ hot start, shot 7-21 from the field, and missed eight of their last nine shots.

In the second quarter, Yao politely stepped aside and allowed Tracy McGrady to get going. McGrady slashed his way to the basket, drawing contact and shooting ten free-throw attempts in the first half alone. He scored 11 points in the quarter, and Dikembe Mutombo came off the bench to block three shots in four minutes. The Warriors’ were outscored 22-12 in the paint, and were outrebounded 26-14 in the half as Houston held a 55-47 halftime advantage. McGrady and Yao combined for 32 points in the first half on 10-15 shooting from the floor.

Golden State, who shot an abysmal 5-15 from 3-point range in the first half, started the third quarter by hitting 6-10 from 23’9”. Jason Richardson and Mike Dunleavy hit each treys as Golden State ran off eight consecutive points to start the period, and tied the contest at 53. Houston upped their lead back to 6 midway through the period as Ryan Bowen’s hustle and energy was on full display. Bowen drew a charge, snared two offensive rebounds, and scored on a putback to keep Houston on top. But another Richardson trifecta gave the Warriors their first lead since the first quarter, and Houston shot 4-16 to begin the period. The Warriors held a 77-71 lead going into the fourth quarter, and had outscored Houston 30-16 in the third.

The Rockets had a plethora of opportunities to cut into the Warriors’ six-point lead but couldn’t do so. Houston shot 0-3 on free throws and 0-2 on field goals to start the fourth period, and when Derek Fisher hit another 3-pointer, Golden State’s lead had ballooned to nine. The lead reached ten midway through the quarter after Houston had cut their deficit to five. But Fisher hit his second trey of the period, and Calbert Cheaney followed with a baseline jumper to stave off any Rockets rally. Houston stayed quiet and slowly but surely cut the lead down to four late in the period after Tracy McGrady hit his first field goal of the second half with 3:30 remaining. Golden State missed three late 3-pointers that could have put the game out of Houston’s reach, and McGrady capitalized off their miscues by hitting a long trey from the left wing to pull Houston to within one, 95-96, with 25.2 seconds remaining. The Warriors hit a couple of free throws to bump their lead back to three, but rookie Luther Head hit the biggest shot of his young career (and the biggest shot of the game) as he nailed a 3-pointer to tie the game with 2.7 ticks remaining. McGrady ensured there would be an extra five minutes, blocking Richardson’s last ditch game-winning 3-point attempt as time expired.

In overtime, the two teams exchanged blows as Golden State held the slimmest of leads at 103-102 with 2:53 remaining. But Wesley (who would finish with a season-high total of 19 points on 4-8 3-pointers) scored four late points, and Bowen (13 points, 8 rebounds for the game) hit a layup off a pass from Yao to give Houston a 108-103 lead with under a minute remaining. Golden State missed on a few 3-point shots, and Houston secured a well-earned 111-105 victory.

Golden State had shot 10-22 from downtown in the second half, but never could establish a consistent low-post game (37 of their 89 field goal attempts were threes). Houston could, and did, establish their interior game, as Yao scored 30 points (on 12-18 shooting) and grabbed 16 rebounds. McGrady finished with 23 points, 8 rebounds, and eight assists, and made the clutch plays that the Rockets expect from him. But the player of the game for Houston was Bowen, who had five offensive rebounds and gave the Rockets countless extra possessions due to his hustle and determination in going after loose balls.

The Rockets fly to Seattle tonight to face the Sonics tomorrow in the second game of a back-to-back set. The game can be seen nationally on TNT.

    ROCKETS RECAP

    · Houston’s forward tandem of Juwan Howard and Stromile Swift combined for 6 total points on 3-7 shooting.
    · Golden State’s dynamic backcourt of Richardson and Davis finished with a combined 55 points on 9-19 shooting from downtown.
    · Golden State outscored the Rockets 27-14 in transition, but Houston returned the favor by outscoring the Warriors 48-22 in the paint.
    · Houston outrebounded Golden State 61-32.
    · Houston shot 35 free throws, compared to only 23 attempts for the Warriors.

I almost lost my hope when Rockets were down by 6 in 4th qtr, then Yao and Head gave me a big surprise. I can't imagine it was Head instead of TMac who hit the tie. :) Great game! :D

All around great win for the Rockets. They played hard to the end and didn't fold up like they have in the past. Rybo had a great game and his energy sparked the rest of the team. What a big shot by the rookie to send it into O/T.

A "defining moment" win, a real team-builder. My only concern is TMac, he looked like he was really hurting in the second half, I hope his back is not out again. Ming had one of his big but not spectacular games, and it came at a great time. Head is cold-blooded, the kid has got "it." Bowen, wow, some great plays. Even Wesley looked decent. And Swift continues to improve.

I still haven't quite decided who is more obnoxious: YOFs or you

Then again, I suppose we do need a healthy balance. Keep up the hating :)

Incidentally, I'm really proud of DW tonight. He showed great heart and was clutch when we needed him most.

After our arguably most exciting and impressive win of the season, all you care to say is to trade our best player in this game. You are pathetic.
