take battier and hayes out. we need to go smaller. our switching defense was a sight to behold last night. and we need to switch up everything esp. teams like the suns and warriors. unless yao goes off, he really hurts our defense.

w/ the suns last night, at least amare played so he didn't shoot 3s (notice biedrins is only in when yao goes out). so they put 3pt shooters all over the place.

james/francis/tmac/bonzi/scola should have played more together

Yeah. i thought that was some clever coaching by Nelson. Thet tried to take the driving lane for tracy of. even if tracy did try to force he's way to the hoop, they had a sag off defender come in to helpout in no time. he had no driving lane. thats why tracy ws trying to find the sag off defenders opposite man to creat a open shot for us.

We werent punishing them. we kept throwing up bricks.

the starting lineup made up that loss before being taken out. they weren't brought back in until the second half, down. no one is going to play well when this sort of scenario has never occurred before.
ohh yes, our bench and their awesome D kept us within 40, so true.

They were pretty much playing zone offense. with harrington shooting so many 3. he was running yao around. i really was suprised why adelman didnt put scola in quicker. atleast scola can play faster defense. harrington was running yao around.

Thats a good lineup. I woud just switch Bonzi for Snyder, at least in this game. And i have to concur. If Yao is not producing he hurts us a ton against teams like the Suns and the Warriors. He cant defend the 3 point line.

To be fair though, the Warriors couldnt miss today. Reminded me of their series against the Mavs. It was just bombs away the entire game. Would be nice to have a 3 point shooter like Aaron Brooks out there. :D I know i know, he is a rookie but when what the hey... ;)

nelson defended our stars VERY well. again, i think adelman is still learning how to use our stars (he never had 1-on-1 players like tmac/yao).

tmac was not much of a factor b/c he's not a ballhandler anymore. i still think that's a good thing.

When healthy, Baron davis is the best player in the NBA.

but the 3s they take are WIDE OPEN. unlike our shooters, the warriors have some VERY good shooters. they might miss 1-2 games, but more often that not, if we give them these shots (harrington had rafer-like space to shoot b/c yao gave him that space). u have to expect this when u play this team. they can shoot. it's not a one-in-a-while type of game for them.

    The problem:

Yao was fronted, Yao couldn't get the ball down low, he can only get ball in high elbow or near top of the key.

    the solution: none.

Look at the brightside, atleast were not the Knicks. thats a once mighty franchise with a proud record which is now going down the toilet.

it's the offense he runs man. the suns offense makes nash a new player after dallas. this nelson offense makes baron a better player.

these 2 players would struggle MIGHTILY in a half-court offense or if they had to play in another type of offense. players like kobe/mac/bron/wade can play ANY type of offense b/c they're truly great players.

baron/nash/billups--those types of players need a particular system to flourish.

so no, he's not the best player when healthy.

so is stephen jackson the MVP? he's back and they're winning all the time, putting up 22ppg? it's the SYSTEM.

Thats going too far but every time that I have seen Tmac vs Baron Davis, Davis has always gotten the best of him.

This goes back to the Hornets vs. Magic playoffs when Baron Diddy out-dueled him after Mac declared himself as the best player.

And yes, health has always been an issue with Baron.

Well, we aren't going to win many games if our 2 best players don't show up. Also, I hate that fall Francis took doesn't effect him for more than this game. Seemed like it bothered him the whole game.

mac was the best player: he put up 32, 7, 7 in that series. baron had pj brown, wesley, mashburn. tmac had garrity.

You cant play switch defense with a 7-6 320 pound giant. atleast scola is not to bad at playing switch D. even hayes is a handy switch primeter defender. thats why i was so suprised with adelman keeping yao out there. especially against a team like the warriors who throw up shots lightning fast

I swear, Yao needs to cut down on those bone-headed turnovers! One night he is spectacular, the next night he is the team's liability!! When he commits all those silly turnovers, makes me wana slap him in the head!! Not sure if he can fit into adelmans offense ala vlade with his subpar passing skills!!

i think i meant i want yao out too so we can try the james/francis/mac/bonzi/scola lineup. or replace hayes w/ bonzi if u want.

that lineup brought us back. but i think adelman felt yao might get going offensively to counter what he has to give up defensively.

Yao is a weapon we must figure out a way to deploy against them. We did it with the Suns and we must also with the Warriors. As discussed in the other thread, because Chuck was on the floor, they were double-teaming Yao even when he didn't have the ball. It is RIDICULOUS they could get away with that. Either SF, Scola or Bonzi must be in the game in place of Chuck.

I think after all that time under JVG, Yao's passing will never be the same.
