I don't get this either. He always brings the ball down off of rebounds. Always!
He never keeps the ball above his head. Bad technique.

Oh, how many times have we seen Yao stand at the 15-18ft area and NOT take the wide open shot?

He's 7'6", wide open, with a man standing off from him. Come on! Shoot it. He does have the range. I don't get it. Yao can be too unselfish sometimes.

I don't think the whole "holds the ball too low" criticism applies in this game. Yao got one of his turnovers while keeping his elbows up and performing a dropstep move. Complete BS call, but Yao played correctly there. Turnover number 2 was a moving screen. Another weak call, but technically a foul. (Once Yao gets the ball he should never just give it to JJ like that. we can get a better shot after he posts up) Turnover 3, Yao was stripped by Rasheed as he was going up. Yao caught the ball and went up immediately. Its not like some little guard came and took it away. He stripped it at about eye level. The Wallace's just do that kind of thing.

Also, I clearly saw Yao get some rebounds and keep the ball above his head. You are exagerrating with the ALWAYS remark. I see some improvement there.

I'm not talking about just this game. And I'm not about his offensive moves. I'm talking about his rebounding (offensive and defensive rebounds). Nothing more, nothing less.

His elbows are NOT up. He gets the ball and then immediately drops them to his waist. He doesn't get the ball stripped ALWAYS. But he has a tendency to *show* the ball by bringing it down. And because of this tendency, that's makes the steals/or jumpballs more common than they should be..

Rule of thumb for 7ft+ players is: don't make it easier for guards and fowards to steal the ball by bringing it down to their level! If you're a center! Act like one.

All I'm saying is that it happens way too much. Hell! Two swipes a game is too much.

As far as the ref calls. Yep. They are BS calls. It's called the "Vlade Flop" foul.

Count me in the minority I guess, but I was pretty impressed last night. Going in to the game, I was expecting a complete blowout and public humiliation. I kept waiting for Detroit to blow it open so that I could switch over to election coverage. Somehow we hung in there. Come on, first game of the season, on the road, against the defending champs and you guys expected a win? Yao and T-Mac played horrible and somehow we were within 5 with 2 minutes left. Last year's team would have been blown out by 30. As poorly as T-Mac played, he found ways to keep us in the game. Yao looked good on the glass. I'll leave it at that.

And after 3 years Yao still can't be taught to hold onto the ball or slam dunk.

Yao may be a p***y because he is treated like a p***y by his coaches. No one will b**** at Yao or yell at him.

    Don't panic........

look at it like this.......Big ben was hitting 15 footers and Rasheeda was out of his mind.........and we still where in the game with two minutes left and YAO and T MAC having horrible offensive games.............

If YAO had scored his customary 15 to 20 we walk these chumps in there building.....

I know Tmac had a bad game.....but come on.......did you see this guy soaring and getting his shot off anytime he wanted to....and so effortlessly..........That was the best horrible shooting night I ever saw....and mark my words......I am the biggest Stevie Franchise fan you will ever find.....but aw dios, and sayonnarra to you Mr. franchise.....We now have a bona fied superstar........I knew T mac was good but man... this guy can create his shot from anywhere on the court and nobody in this universe can guard him one on one.....

By the all star break......we'll be VERY TOUGH TO PLAY.......quote me on that.....
